Boot camp won't be too hard for be, since I am what most people would refer to as an Army Brat...

BWHAHA. It's the people who think they know what they're going into that always have it the hardest. I can't imagine you having a very easy time in Basic. Just remember all the mean things people said to you on Vizzed? How did you react to that? Guess what's going to happen in Basic.

I still say the Army will be good for you, and that you definitely need it, but you need to drop all of your preconceptions about it, or you're going to have a very difficult time adjusting. Remember: Your dad has been in for 25 years. He gets a certain amount of leeway that you just won't, not in Basic, not in AIT, and not even when you get to your first unit. I'm guessing if he's been in that long he's at least a First Sergeant, if not a Sergeant Major. The things they do that you won't be allowed to will blow your mind.

Honestly, if you were Marine Corps, I probably would have no respect for you. I don't really like the Marines; they treat Army like dirt, which I find wrong.

That's the wrong answer. Marines treat soldiers like soldiers treat Marines: As comrades with slightly different training methods. If you can't get over that, you're gonna have a very hard time when your deployed.

Lazlo Falconi : What I meant by it not being to hard for me is that I know a little of what to expect, becuase my father has been in. And my father is a Master Seargent, by the way, since you were wondering about that. And I know I won't get a lot of leeway, and get to do the things that he gets to do; he's already told me not to say anything about him benig in, or else teh drill sergenat might give me a hard time.

And I might be wrong about the marines, but when i went to MEPS almost 2 weeks ago, the Marines that were there, getting ready to ship off... they were treating the Army recruits like crap. So, as of right now, I don't really like them as soldiers. But who knows, that might change.

That's understandable, but I'm sure since they were ready to ship out, they were just ragging on the new guys. Anyway, you need to not hold any grudges against these guys. Whether they're Army, Marines, Air Force, you name it. They're your brothers in arms, and petty things shouldn't get to you. That guy who made you mad may be the same guy that saves your ass at some point, or need your help. You're all in the same boat. Just because they don't act that way doesn't change the situation, or that being ignorant is well is going to improve the situation.

And also, if you don't like people talking down to you or being ordered around, you shouldn't be in the Army. Respect is expected, and is sometimes deserved, but not always given. Get a tougher skin and keep your head down.

Well, stuff happens - I'd still respect you as a soldier in the Army if I was a Marine, but that's just me, not all Marines I guess.

Basically, because of the Army and the way they operate, I will only be able to tell you certain things.

Basically, because of the way your MOS works, you probably won't be privy to any classified materials at all, so as long as you're not in sector, you can tell anyone all of the details you know about your job.

Looks like I'm late to the goodbye party. Don't shoot your slef in the leg and good luck in basic. You should learn from this. Teach me some knots when you get back!

Just watch out for yourself and your comrades so nobody gets hurt - we want you all to have a safe return.
