The Game Boy and Game Boy Color together sold 118.69 million units. Why do you think the Game Boy was so popular?

Probably cause it was the first handheld game system in the U.S.A

I think the Game Boy is so popular because I see everyone talk about it on the Internet and I watch so many people review it.

SuperGameBoy1 : That makes no sense because the Gameboy came out in 1989 and the "Internet" was in it's infancy.

The Gameboy was popular because it was a console that was portable. That and it had great titles. From Tetris that was packaged in with it (that every adult loved) to great Mario and Metroid titles. That doesn't even include the popularity boom of games like Pokemon.

Well it was portable, so you could play it on the go. Plus the graphics are considered "crappy" on toady's standard's, but back when it came out it was awesome and had killer background music.   

Definitely because it was the predecessor of all portable consoles today... And it had legendary games such as Pokémon, Legend of Zelda and Super Mario.

Well as stated above the Gameboy was a portable system! What is better than being able to play games while out and about? I loved walking to school, taking a break and getting my fix in before going to class, then after school was out doing the same thing on my way home. Better yet, they were small enough to fit just about anywhere. They weren't heavy or bulky, and carrying around the accessories, games, and everything else you figured you would need wasn't a big deal either. It was easily accessible and just plain fun. It's my opinion that the reason Gameboys were such a big hit includes the portability and overall the games that were made for them. A handheld gaming system is just useless piece of equipment without games to compliment it. So the next biggest thing that helped the Gameboy make it in my opinion would have to be the game developers. Without the developers we would have missed out on a lot of fun experiences. I still have my Gameboy Color, and my advanced that I use from time to time. They never get old and I don't think they will, at least not to me.

It's so popular because it's a convenient portable hand held console. As we all know, there aren't many of those......automatically making Gameboy a success! That's the only logical explanation. There isn't anything special that differentiates Gameboy from other consoles besides it being portable.

Personally, I don't like Gameboy or the available games.

It was so epic.
