This is nothing new, that's for sure, but  what are you guys' thoughts on parents and psychologists saying that video games make you become more aggressive and less social? Of course That's probably not all, but it's what I've heard of the most. Are there other lesser known effects of playing video games (beside impaired vision)?  I don't really think video games are the legitimate cause for death or destruction caused by a person.

I think now children have the idea that what goes on in a game is not real, but most don't understand that it could happen. I think violent games aren't for children that are easily influenced and tempted to do what ever they see.

It all depends on how mentally stable you are. A less mentally stable person would be influenced by the games and thus act like they are characters in the game, while a more mentally stable person would be able to play the game without being influenced.

Video games are not the cause of kids becoming violent. That is just a cop out link made by people who don't want to admit that they aren't properly active parents. The only link you can legitimately make is that people who have violent tendencies are more attracted to violent video games. The wiring for being prone to violence is already there and will surface without violent games. Violent kids are attracted to violent video games like a dog is attracted to a chew toy. You don't blame chew toys for your dog having a tendency to chew.

I think that little children should avoid things like that, not necessarily sci-fi ones or fantasy ones, more like GTA and things like that. For example, there have been reports of 10 year olds stealing cars because they saw it in a video game. And a while ago, there was a big epidemic with kids and Naruto. A few kids died during this, and several others got massive concussions. I think if kids watch violent shows and movies, or play violent video games, they need to be told that it is not real, otherwise they might try it themselves.

Honestly I've never personally seen any side affects from playing video games in my life, my friends lives, or my family members lives (including my younger siblings or relatives).

I don't get the fuss about this - since I have not seen it myself in other words.

I'm positive that video games have a negative affect on select people, but it's mostly politics that give this mindset on video games.

Oh, also - who said video games impair vision? bleh, I've been playing them for 20 years and still have 20/20 vision.
