I suffer from a deep chronic depression and just a massive negative outlook on life and I'm trying to get help (on some pills and got a therapist) But she told me she could only help me if I wish to get better and that it will be very hard to overcome which sucks  for me cause i was never good with hard work. Anyways I was hoping anyone on here would give me some tips to help me

Well, the only thing that I can offer of help to you is tell you something that I've heard on TV. Bananas are good to cure depression, I don't know why, I just heard in a commercial of a show that was going to show in the week (probably this day has already passed and I missed it, so I can't explain why the banana is good to cure depression).

All I can recommend you to do is eat bananas.

Hey man, I've gone through bouts of severe depression, and I can relate to how terrible it is. Taking omega 3 fish oil capsules has helped me considerably at some points. You can buy them at your local health store, and they help to regulate brain function and actually release serotonin. They have even done studies showing their efficacy with other mental illnesses such as bipolar, ocd, etc. I have ocd myself so I could vouch for the studies...

Also, when feeling a bit better, exercise can do wonders, as it naturally releases dopamine in the body (the feel good chemical). Even going for a relaxing walk or doing push-ups could have many positive benefits. Last but certainly not least, I'm not sure about your spiritual views, but after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour, this has impacted my life in a great way.

I was skeptical about it at first too man, but he could truly give you that peace inside if you desire it. It's all about a personal relationship with the creator. Anyway bro, this is just what has helped me, I hope some of this advice will encourage you and that your depression will lift. Take care.

Also check out this song, I just found it on youtube but it has that uplifting vibe to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz2d0g87a_E

All of it. I could not have said it better myself, Stockton. I am going through depression as well. I am trying to get into an exercise routine and read the Bible more. Other than those points, all I can say is you need to find a friend, preferably someone in real life, who you can talk to as often as possible. Your friend does not have to have the answers to all the questions you may have; sometimes speaking is all you need to press on.

Stockton90 : Sorry but I'm a Agnostic Nihilist
In very simple terms:

Agnostic : Believes that the existence of a "god" "deity" or "creator" is unknown or unknowable ("Maybe there is a God, maybe not; no proof either way")

Nihilist: Believes that we are here without a purpose; that our values (for example: Killing is bad), is invented by ages of human generation and not due to some spiritual code. ("Humans have no purpose, we are just here to live and die")

Well depression almost ruined my life, working out, eating better. And boosting self-confidence helped me. As for medicine, for something like this i'm not quite sure but try and always look at the bright side of things. You'll feel better about yourself.

- If you don't already spend time with friends, I highly recommend it. It doesn't have to be talking about your depression. Watch a movie, chat about random stuff, go for a walk together, etc.
I'm not an extremely social person, and I don't surround myself with companions constantly. But sometimes I get into a bad place, and this helps me. de-stress, and take my mind off things that worry me, and just enjoy life basically.

- I suggest exercising for about 10-15 minutes every morning when you wake up.
It's really not that much out of your day, so it's easy. It's the perfect time to do it, because you're not busy doing anything else. You can eat and shower afterwards. Make sure you're drinking water before, during and after.

- Or, you can simply go for a jog or a brisk walk. Or you can do house chores or yard work until your heart's beating fast & you're sweating - that counts as exercise, and as a bonus it's also productive.

- Sleep for as long as you need. If you're required to wake up early, go to bed early. When I get enough sleep, my quality of life is literally improved.
Not sleeping when you're tired is like not eating when you're hungry. It's bad for you. Your body is telling you that you need rest, so don't be afraid to sleep 12 hours if you need it. At the end of the week, I can easily sleep 12 hours, but it feels great.

- I agree with Stockton90 about taking omega-3 fatty acid supplements as well.

If you need someone to talk to then feel free to message me, I'm not an expert at consoling people or giving life advice, but I'll definitely listen. If it's weird to message some random chick on the internet, then I understand. But my offer stands at any point if you so desire.

These are some things I've noticed improve my mood. I don't know if they'll work for you, but I sincerely hope this post helps you in some way.

"Last but certainly not least, I'm not sure about your spiritual views, but after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour, this has impacted my life in a great way."

lolwut.

The majority of what Stockton said is stuff I'd reccommend... except for that bit I have quoted.

But I don't think there's anything wrong with you really. I suffer from major depression, and have a pessimistic view as well.

This is something I will tell you.

Being happy is a choice. Even if you don't actually feel happy. When you have the choice of pretending to be happy, or broadcasting that you are sad, it's best to just fake happiness. At best you'll fool yourself into thinking you are happy. At worst you'll just not worry as many people as you would from being sad.

We all have the power to choose to be happy. But some people choose to be sad.

I try to be happy, despite suffering from depression. And it works most of the time. I have down moments sure, but even non-depressed people do. Doesn't really make us that special.

But the biggest thing is this, if you listen to nothing else, you have to listen to this.

There will be hard work involved. It's called life.

There is no way to avoid hard work if you want to be happy, and not depressed. There is no shortcut, and no cheat code to get past depression. It's a lot of work, and it IS worth it. Nothing in life that's good comes that easily.

So just give it your best.

Seimika, I hope that youre feeling better dude... I forgot to mention this last time, but something else that has helped me at times is supplementing my meals with a magnesium pill. Many people are actually deficient in this area, because unless you eat plenty of greens, there isnt many other adequate ways of obtaining it in the diet.

Here is some interesting reading about it:

http://www.real-depression-help.com/magnesium-for-depression.html

Best of fortune to you man...

Depression is just a state of mind.  If you keep yourself in good spirit then nothing can hinder you.  You've can't let the small things in live bother you.  You must assert yourself.  Show your problems who the boss is.  Keep your head up and don't worry so much.  When the storm passes over  a clear blue sky awaits with a shining morning star to guide the way.

Seimika : Honestly, it's going to be a long battle. I suffer from PTSD, depression and anxiety attacks. Long story as to why, but it's going to take time to get better. I honestly don't believe in being cured from it, but you can learn to cope with it better. Just hang in there and keep doing what you're doing. Medicine does help but the therapy will help more too.

First off: Find someone you trust to talk too. That will help out a lot.
Second: Try to find something to entertain yourself. This isn't a long term solution, but it will help out short term while you attempt a long term solution. And by entertain yourself, do something that you will enjoy that won't make you feel sad if it doesn't work out.
Third: Visit a doctor to get some medication (this is a short term answer to deal with the symptoms.)

Hope you get better.

Depression, like many things in life, is complicated. There's no magic bullet to make it go away. To be honest, I don't like the way modern psychology or medicine approaches depression. It treats it like an illness that requires the right combination of drugs and an expensive psychotherapist. I have seen this approach work in some people, though most cases I have seen it only temporarily help, and I have by far seen more people dive deeper in the darkness of the condition. Well, you know why I think we can all give a set of relating situations to depression? Because it's a process that's involved with our lives. Depression shouldn't be treated like a long-term disease because there's very little empirical evidence which proves that to be true. Depression appears more so to be the realization of how difficult it is to maintain our daily needs, juggle relationships, plan for the future, etc. and during this all end up being happy at the end of the day.

My experience and advice is anecdotal. I battled some extremely bad times and, while I am very content with my life today, unfortunately I have to say sometimes things can look pretty bad. Two things that helped me: (1) - finding a good core group of friends to build my confidence and (2) - fostering an outlet as a way of dealing with bad feelings. Philosophy and community activism were my starting points and within those areas I was able to find solace in the struggle. Eventually I was able to travel and meet new people and today I'm happily going day-by-day even with minimum wage in a crowded house with three other roommates.

Making it in this world isn't easy and I won't lie and say otherwise. However I can confidently say it gets easier to handle with experience. You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders, though, so imagine this fact: you were given existence out of the infinite amount of possibilities in this universe. Despite the hardships, trials and tribulations, Earth is an amazing place to explore. Life itself is beautiful and there's only a matter of time until you find what will make you happy.

Despite the hardships, trials and tribulations, Earth is an amazing place to explore. Life itself is beautiful and there's only a matter of time until you find what will make you happy.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
