If we are going to start running around accusing popular franchises as violent, Barney is a better place to start than Pokémon. Although this is a slight exaggeration, my message stays the same. For all of the violent aspects of Pokémon, there are infinitely more that are beneficial. Pokémon involves puzzle solving, logical thinking, and a lot of things that even Barney can't offer.

I guess if you want to be -technical-, yes pokemon is violent, in that there is a of physical aggression taking place.

However, considering the type of violence we see nowadays on an average basis, I think anyone accusing Pokemon of being violent is just a little laughable...

I honestly don't think I would ever think of Pokemon as violent. I've even heard that Pokemon was considered to be like worshiping Satan. How that person "rationalized" that was, well strange. I honestly don't think it's anymore "violent" than any other animated series. I mean, you can see some kind of violence in any kind of animated series or even movies for that matter. So I think it just depends on how much tolerance someone has to such a thing as violence. Some people can with stand small amounts, some people can't tolerate any kind of violence, and even some can tolerate a lot. Just depends on the person's ideals I guess.

Take Super Mario Brothers, you sometimes crush other creatures, you can then say; "You playing a character that kills another living creature.." So I honestly think there are a lot of things that are considered violent. But honestly, Pokemon isn't as violent as a lot of people make it out to be. There are a lot more violent and disturbing things in the world. I've never been into Pokemon personally, I honestly don't understand what the hype is all about. But I don't think it's really all that violent. Is it free of violence? Of course not! It's just not AS violent as other things. There are other animated series that are a lot worse. I hardly watch those kind of animated series, so I can't really name that many. But I am sure if you stop and think about it, you can find another animated series that is a lot more violent.
