Hey,

So, I have recently acquired an iTouch and I'm wondering what sort of apps people would recommend. I'm looking for anything useful or fun to have. I've got a couple things on there now but this is my first apple device after my ipod so I'm not really familiar with any of the apps and I don't want to waste time with crappy ones.

I am looking for free apps right now. Although, if you HIGHLY recommend an app that costs money then let me know as well and if I think it's worth the money then I might get it.

Well, despite there already being a Safari browser on there, the Google app is pretty good at times, Nya~. Skype is alright if you use it, but I never actually tested it out to know how it is .

Not too sure about any other apps that seem useful, other than the Pandora Radio app, Nya~.

The Safari browser was too slow for me, so I got Opera Mini and used that instead. As for games, try anything made by Backflip Studios. Their games are some of my favorites particularly due to their simplistic yet increasingly challenging style of play. Of their games, I have NinJump, Paper Toss (both original and World Tour), Strike Knight, and Ragdoll Blaster 2 --the last one listed costs a dollar unless pricing is different in your country.

I'm an avid iPhone app user, so I'll post a lot of what I'd think be useful.

If you want to have a phone number for free texting and free phone calls anywhere in the world, I'd strongly recommend an app called textPlus, and it's completely free. You can pay .99 cents for the advertisements to go away, though.

If you're a Facebook user, of course I would suggest to download the Facebook app, and the Facebook Messenger app. It's really useful, and I've noticed that it runs faster than the Android Facebook app, so it's a plus. All free.

If you like photography or taking photos, or keeping in touch with photos, I'd definitely suggest an app called Instagram and an extra app for Instagram design - InstaFrame. All free.

For online messaging programs, I'd throw out suggestions for Steam, various IRC apps, and eBuddy for AIM, etc. Again, everything is free.

I'm not entirely sure, but I remember you saying you lived in Alberta, and I'm pretty sure Cineplex is Canada-wide, so if I'm right, I'll suggest for you to download their app - Cineplex Mobile. It's completely free, and it's useful by letting you check out what movies are out, at which theater, and you can even buy your own tickets on that app. Everything's free, of course. Also, for another Canadian app, I'll suggest you to get the Canucks app if you're a fan of them.

If you like gaming, I have several of them, so I'll just list out the genres and the name, and maybe price if it has one.

RPGs
- Aralon HD: $4.99, but totally worth it as it is almost like Skyrim on iPhone.
- Order and Chaos: $6.99, but it's graphically awesome and it's almost exactly like World of Warcraft, and of course, it's a MMO.
- Zenonia series: mostly free, it's an awesome series you can very easily get addicted to!

Shooters
- N.O.V.A., N.O.V.A. 2, N.O.V.A. 3 - Priced in the 5 bucks range, but there are free versions of them, and the games are very graphically awesome and fun.
- Clear Vision, only if you like stickman sniper games. Free and full version available.

Puzzles
- Unblock Me: Both free and full versions, if you love solving puzzles, there are thousands of puzzles in this single app.
- Bag It!: It is a cute app where you have to put items in the bag without crushing it by using logic and weight, etc.

Misc Games
- Minecraft PE: Free and full, it's very fun if you like Minecraft on your computer!
- Temple Run: It is a very fun game where you have to use both the gravity and touch of your iTouch, and it's completely free!
- Tower of Fortune: It's a free app where you can use your luck on battles, bars, treasures, etc, but it can get repetitive but I think it's worth getting.

Oh, also, a last BIG suggestion for a very cool game... Draw Something! It enables you to draw stuff with other players, either locally or globally. It's also completely free!

Try getting some fun games on it like Temple Run, Minecraft and Angry Birds. Also, you should try getting this really challenging game called the Impossible game. Also, do any of your friends have an Ipod Touch? If they do, then they might have Text+ then. So try getting it.

I'm going to agree that Jetpack Joyride is an incredible game for free. Really can keep you entertained for hours.

Like Snow said, the Zenonia games are awesome, and some of the more recent iterations have been free. Zenonia 4 is an awesome RPG with a great skill system and tons of different weapons and armor.

DragonVale is an cute and fun management game that lets you raise and breed dragons to build an awesome theme park.

Now this next game looks a little lofty at $3.99, but I assure you it is worth every penny. If you've ever wanted to run a video game company, Game Dev Story is the game for you. Really, all Kairosoft games are incredible, but this is their crowning achievement, and is insanely addicting.

If you are looking for a fun and quick paced sports game, Baseball Superstars 2011 is perfect. While its two predecessors are also free, I find this game places less emphasis on in-app purchases and is a much more entertaining game.

Soundhound can recognize music and give you the name of the song, lyrics, artist, Youtube videos, and a link to download the song from iTunes which is all pretty neat. Also lets you hum into the microphone to find out the song's name , which can be great if you have a song stuck in your head but can't recall the track title or artist. Soundhound also features an in-app music player which instantly brings up lyrics to any songs you play.

For a one time price of 99 cents, you can download an play any mp3 file using Free Music Download Pro. Then when you connect your iPod to the computer, you can transfer all downloads to your iTunes library.

If you've never played Scribblenauts games before, Scribblenauts Remix is a must-have app. Featuring the classic sandbox mode and 70 levels (which grows every time a new update is released), your only limit is your imagination.




Well, those are some of the best apps. If you're willing to put up the jack though Infinity Blade 2 is beautiful and fun, and the best game in the entire appstore.

Ever tried minicraft? Someone ported it over to iOS a while back from the ludum dare entry Notch made last year (and the controls are pretty big, so those with sausage fingers will find it even more enjoyable)

A fun game I enjoyed when I had an iTouch was Eternity Warriors.

All you do is fight waves of demons with swords, axes, etc., and get money to buy new weapons and armor n stuff.

Neat little game to keep you entertained for a while.

I really like Temple run, and Zombieville 2 is also a pretty fun game.  I think the max total for that is $3, but I imagine it is less.  I hope you can find apps to your liking!

Another app you could add for your Ipod Touch would be a game called Jetpack Joyride. Also, if you want to talk to someone that has Skype, you can download the Skype app and talk with them

Yep Jetpack and Zenonia are 2 really great games. I also would have to recommend Ninjump. Sort of pointless and can get boring somewhat quickly but, I said the same about Temple Run and you see how popular that got. 

Draw Something is pretty good, aswell as the Sonic Games :L As for apps well, you can't go wrong with some old voice changers, drawing pads. etc just to cure boredom. I would also highly recommend emulators to play on your iDevice. Oh, and Minecraft: Pocket Edition.
