About a lot of Minecraft players' prime goal on survival or hardcore mode is to find diamonds.   I'm proud to say that I have achieved that goal recently.   Today, I found diamonds in 8 minutes and 16 seconds from the time I spawned to the time I collected the very first diamond on a hardcore world just to see how fast I can find diamonds after seeing a Youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJZmVdJeY3I).   You should try to find diamonds the fastest you can.   Does anybody have any diamond stories to share?

I seen some videos on utube saying that most of the diamonds are between rows 5 and 10 from the bottom or bedrock. I have only found patches of two or three diamonds but i remember when i first found some YIPPEE haha

Well a friend of mine told me how to get diamonds within a short amount of time so i did what he said and got some wood and dug a stairway down and got down to lava level (y 12) so i started strip minging (When you dig straight then start mining around you to make a big room and keep on going) but in a way so i dont get hit by lava if i hit any. Took me... about an hour to finnaly hit diamond finding some gold around it and every now and then hitting redstone but after mining it out i had enough cobble to make all the walls down there covered with furences... shouldve seen it

Branch mining is the most effective I think, those of you who don't know.

Branch Mining is when you go all the way down to bed rock and make a 3x3x3 room.
This is your base, chests, furnaces and workbenches go here.
Then at the middle of one side you dig a hallway, called your Trunkline.
Then you dig out one side of the trunk every two blocks, and those go for 16-32 blocks, these are your branches.

If you need more info just go to the Minecraft Wiki, this really is effective though, i can usually find diamond within 5 minutes.

Though luck does factor in, i think its the most efficient way to do things.

cmasterprice : Youre definitely correct with Branch mining being successful, I've gotten plenty of diamonds using this method and would recommend it. But in a side note I just hate how it looks afterwards and it can get boring fast. Also it sucks when youre cruising along and find that one lava block below you and fall right in lol
