If you have an HP, I have something you can try. With the computer plugged in, run "HP Battery Check." Non-HP laptops may have a similar feature. That should test your battery and determine whether or not it should be replaced soon.

Generally, "it needs to be replaced" means "it runs out kinda quick, so maybe you should get a newer one." At least that's my experience.

According to Microsoft, Windows will only say this if your battery reports that it can no longer hold more than 40% charge. The battery may in fact be fine, but it's not reporting properly to Windows, which is still somewhat of an issue. I think the only thing you can do is ignore it, or go get a new battery.
