Manditory... hmm.. Does that mean they WONT broadcast normal TV? (In aus, we got normal TV, digital TV, then pay TV).

Not everyone will be ready, but a settopbox is as cheap as anything these days.

i still think it's a warning sign for what will soon happen. in a couple years, everyone will need HD tv's because all channels will be broadcast in HD only. Let the companies do this and soon what i said will follow.

Eh, honestly I don't think that will next step will be happening for a long time. I mean yeah, once HDTV's are the price of normal TV's maybe, but I don't see the switch being a big deal since you can get the receiver for $20 if you just get one of those rebate things.

We have one of those on one tv that doesn't have sat it works fine.

I don't watch TV so it won't really affect me.

I set up the box for my dad and taught my mom how to properly utilize her already digital-ready televisions. It's not that complicated, but if you get crap analog reception you're probably not going to get very many channels. Whereas with analog TV you get a fuzzy picture if the signal is weak, with digital you get nothing. If you want to buy a stronger antenna you can get more, of course.

I definitely support this. Also note that this has been pushed back to June, and I believe it's June 13th or something around there.

yes Davideo7 you are right

By June 12, 2009, federal law requires that all full-power television broadcast stations stop broadcasting in analog format and broadcast only in digital format. Your local broadcasters may make the the transition before that date, and some already have, so be ready
