But to answer your question, isn't it kind of like a free roam thing? Or isn't there still victory road, pokemon contests?

I believe if you only use the save in game (as in the save menu) before you start out to the elite 4 it works, and you then only use that.

Well... when you're title is longer than your post, you know it's too short.

You can, if you go back to the save menu, the game should be beaten, and you should be at your character's home.
