[THIS REVIEW WAS ALSO WRITTEN FOR GAMEFAQS SO THERE WILL NOT BE A STAR SYSTEM]

An iBOCK3 Review

It's been over a decade since MOTHER 3 was released in Japan on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and EARTHBOUND fans from outside of Japan have been eagerly awaiting to get their hands on it so many years later. The main question going around amongst gamers all over the world is, "Was it worth such a long wait?"

Resoundingly, absolutely. This game is such a well-made role-playing game that you'll find yourself at times actually TRYING to find flaws in it; you'll find out that your flaw-hunting will be in vain, because every single aspect of MOTHER 3 is perfectly executed in every way. So, to answer the main query of EARTHBOUND fanatics: this game is anything and everything you'd ever hope for in a sequel.

The battle system is unique, and it has never been done in such a fashion in any other role playing game before, besides the previous EARTHBOUND titles. Every monster has its own heartbeat, and if you learn about a monster's heartbeat by putting it to sleep, you can unleash a barrage of attacks if you attack in the pattern of its heartbeat; it's a very, very unique concept that spices up battles like never before.

The characters are exceptional; they don't feel like your typical two-dimensional static characters in most games. Each and every one of them has their own very unique personality, and it's a warm welcome, because EARTHBOUND also had colorful characters.

Graphics: |||||||||| 10/10
For some reason, after all these years, the whole "Peanuts" art feel in this game makes everything so charming. The game's graphics are such a great change from the normal role-playing game style that just trying to find and fight all the crazy-looking monsters is a fun way to kill time. Although MOTHER 3 may be two-dimensional, it goes to town with those two dimensions and makes the game a living, breathing world of seemingly endless entertainment.

Game play: |||||||||| 10/10
From fights to just roaming around town, to even interacting with the non-player characters, every aspect of MOTHER 3's world is intensely enjoyable. The writer of this game's scenario has his world brought to life flawlessly, from the unique inventory interface, to the "DP" system, everything game play-wise isn't what you'd expect, in the most amazing way.

Story: |||||||||| 10/10
The story starts off with Lucas, a small boy in his tweens who, within the first hour of play or so, has his life completely flipped around. A tragedy befalls his family, and the quaint little town of Tazmilly. And, unfortunately, the Porky soldiers have come back for a rematch; the story, although seemingly cliched with the "Hero's town gets ransacked", is approached from a more realistic emotional angle. The story is played out exceptionally, and even the most jaded RPG gamer will have their heartstrings tugged in sympathy for the innocent boy whose life is changed forever.

Replay Value: |||||||||| 10/10
Even after you've finished the game, you still have the uncontrollable urge to run around the world and interact with it some more. It's so addicting to be engrossed in the MOTHER 3 universe that even upon completion of the story, you'll be going back to this game for years. It is so timeless, that even your gamer grandchildren will find this enjoyable.

Overall: |||||||||| 10/10
Even if you haven't played the original EARTHBOUND, this game will capture your interest within the first ten minutes of play. If there is a game that will go down in history, this is the one. It's more than worth your time.

I seriously need to get my hands on this. I love Earthbound. :3

A friend of mine is playing it currently and she talks about how awesome it is any time talk to her. The only reason I don't have it now I guess is because I'm lazy.

Pretty sure it's a third one. Earthbound as we knew it in the US was the second one. I could be wrong on that it's the third game, but I know that the Earthbound we got was the sequel to one we originally didn't.

Nope, it's not a third one.

Game titles:
"EARTHBOUND ZERO"(NES version of Earthbound
"EARTHBOUND"
"MOTHER 3" (Earthbound 2)

Mother 1, 2 and 3 are a trilogy.

Earthbound Zero was not the NES version of Earthbound at all, it stared a different character entirely named Ninten and wasn't REALLY named Earthbound Zero, rather simply Mother. It was never released in America for reasons that I'll be stating in my four-part Mother trilogy review that I will be putting up the first part to, in a few minutes.

And.. erm fatal flaw in the original review... Mother 3 was released on the GameBoy Advance in 2006. Did you do any background before you posted this?
