The PS4 is already being developed  and certain details are being released that don't work for many gamers.
1. It will not be backwards compatible.
2. Nobody will physically own their games, games will be "streamed"  over the internet and a player will just own the rights to play them using the internet.
3. Used games will be a thing of the past. Each game "purchased" will be registered to the id of the purchaser and cannot be used by anyone else. (This has been brought up for the xbox720 as well.)
4. These may just be fake designs, but the designs for the PS4 really look stupid.

On the other hand there are some good things. the ps4 will be supposedly be 60% recycled materials. It will also have a sleep mode designed in and when the machine is off it will recharge from a rechargeable cell.

What do you guys think? (Please no xbox fanboyism because some of the features for the PS4 are said to be going into the next xbox.)

This article is no more than the rumor articles that come out all the time with consoles. Sony already shot this rumor down and said there will be no kind of announcement at the next E3. These pictures and supposedly released information articles come out all the time. A year after Wii came out, there were things like this about a Wii 2. There were articles like this for the supposed Dreamcast 2 and Xbox 720. It's all a sham until you see announced officially by Sony. Don't trust any article not released by Sony over this stuff. Besides, making a new console right now would be a waste of money. The current systems are utilizing the best technology there is for gaming. Heck, they are still developing new things for the PS3, so that is evidence already that the PS4 development is hogwash. No point in even developing a whole new console until technology for the gaming world advances more to where there are things they can do that they can't put on their current console. 

Even if what you post is true, the things I pointed out will have a serious impact upon the sales of the console.

First of all these speculation articles are always just that...speculation. The truth is that none of these designs will be the final design of the PS4...and truth is that you may be right about the digital distribution of games. Games have been moving towards that for the past 5-10 years. Anything game developers, and distributors can do to save money on the games, but still charge similar amounts they will do. Look how popular platforms like Steam, xBox live, and apple are.
Developers are also sick of companies like GameStop making billions in profits on their games and not receiving anything in return.

I doubt however that console developers like Sony will completely alienate those whom do not have a internet connection as this is still a fairly large group of population that still game (amazing as it seems)

You can easily tell this is fake, just because of the designs they posted in the article. It is not possible for it to be completely clear like that. The other design on the other hand is much more realistic, but still doubtful.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's fake, especially since Sony has disproved it. However, I will say that while those features suck for players, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony did pursue them. Especially with the digital ID thing. When you lend someone a game to play you cause the company to lose money since that person will not go out to buy the game his/her self. And really, they could have done this with the PS3 downloadable games, but they made the "5 download rule" instead, and per account for that matter. Some of the other features would be kind of dumb and hurt sales. Backwards compatibility is something most gamers look forward to when a new system comes out. That means they can have a new system AND play their old favorite games. If they were really going to take a way that grand feature for the PS4 then why the hell did they give that ability to the PS Vita?

The PS4 doesn't seem to have any new features. I read that site, and its pretty much a rumor site. No real hard evidence on any features or the PS4 itself. Right now I'm not interested in it.

Even if there was a PS4 coming out, I do not believe that I would waste time and money trying to get it. I already have more consoles than I do play... and I have Vizzed!

Why would I need a PS4? I wouldn't. So I won't get one.

Even if that information was true, I cant see how any console developer could justify creating purely digital copies of games for a couple of reasons...

1. Not everyone has access to the internet, and if they do, not everyone could manage the HUGE download sizes of titles. 
2. Trading video games has been one of the biggest gaming traditions, why would Sony stop this when their PS3 games are region free. 

I just cant see it happening, if it does, I for one will never buy another Sony console ever again. 

I agree with everyone else on this. There really isn't much of a point to go with the ps4 system; the PS3 works just fine. Because everyone has all of the electronics and whatnot they need, the soonest possible release (if they are indeed working hard on one now) would probably be at least two years from now.

thenumberone : I remember that thread. Someone said they were already developing PS4 and PS5. Marcmoney also had a thread about development of PS4 and Xbox 720. But those threads are old and inactive. We are kind of going on a rule where we won't close dupe threads if the original has been inactive for a lengthy period of time. That way those who weren't around during that threads activity can still talk about it, bringing more activity to the board. I'll look for the other one and close it later.

gtwalq : This has little to do with Sony since many platforms will try to move to have more purely digital releases of games. Every developer/distributor wants to save money and still charge similar prices...this has more to do with catering to the developers, not so much Sony themselves.

That being said, this "Rumor" site is just like all the rest of them. Most of these speculations will probably never happen. Don't start believing anything until they actually announce something at E3

Jordanv78 : I see what you mean in regards to cost cuts for developers but dont you think Sony should be putting the customer first?  I can also understand that indi developers have a better shot at mass producing too.. but it just seems a little strange :/

I realize that what I posted might be fake, but if they did implement all that, it would be a serious blow to the gaming industry. Look at what's been done with Diablo 3! It is registered to your battlenet account and even if you made your own server, you couldn't play the game because all the creatures are on the Blizzard servers so you can't even play offline by yourself.

There are games being released right now that cannot be sold because no other person can play them. There are already games being released which have to be played online, or at least need an internet connection to start the game.

Are there people on here that would skip the PS4 or Xbox720 altogether if the makers were putting such restrictions on the games and systems?
