I like some of the newer Metal but overall I tend to like Metal from the 80's and 90's the most. Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath, Pantera, Ozzy all awesome.

I can't really dis metal, except for 80's hair metal... It's my least favorite of any.

I usually listen newer metal though, like Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, etc.

I mean, metal has gotten so diverse, it's hard to really compare it to itself nowadays. I like it all really, everything from classic metal like Sabbath and Dio, to the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, to Hair and Glam Metal (Stryper remains one of my favorite bands to see live), to all the black, death, thrash, blackened death, stoner, speed, sludge, power, etc. Metal out there, to the nu metal groups like KoRn or Slipknot, to even the Goth metal bands like Nightwish. It's all metal I suppose, but it all has a very different sound. I'd probably say my favorite is power metal though, it combined the stage performance of glam with the heavy hitting riffs of classic heavy metal. Sabaton, Savatage, even the Power Speed like Dragonforce is good.

Old metal is great, especially the 80's music in general, with bands like Motorhead, Running wild, Metallica, Anthrax, Guns n roses, and stuff but theres still new metal bands coming out that are really great for example Gama Bomb, Municipal waste, Evile, Bonded by blood, Alestorm, Austrian death machine, Skiltron and that just a personal opinion :p

I prefer older metal. Newer metal is just full of annoying emo screamos that don't really know much of what they're doing, in my opinion . Although, I don't really listen to a lot of metal, so there could possibly be some bands out there right now that are pretty good, Nya~.
