I prefer the mixture of both, you can play multiplayer with your friends online and if your internet goes down you can play your game in offline mode.

Single player all the way. Online is fun, but really-who can resist a great campaign. Nobody.

I prefer both, because I like to beat the campaign, and then go to multiplayer, already knowing the controls, and maps, if it is a shooter, like cod and gives you a taste of the maps in the campaign, in which situation I do good online. Anyone wanna add me on XBL?

I prefer both. Because if those were to be apart. There would be no fun. So both is my answer.

I was never really a shooter fan, myself. The only ones I've really played have been Goldeneye and a fair bit of Perfect Dark. The reason I'm saying this is because most online games is FPS based (I know there are others, but face it, the majority of online gaming is Shooters and MMOs).

That being said, I personally prefer offline or playing via stream like people are there with me. Gaming with others physically or near physically feels a bit more natural when it comes to gaming as you are playing with your peers. When it comes to stream, it's a bunch of people chatting while you and/or others playing the game, creating a discussion USUALLY relating to the game that is currently being played.

I remember a long time back, playing Smash Bros. 64 with everyone. There were about 10 of us always waiting for the next slow to open for a free for all match. The same thing happened with melee and lastly, the most memorable, brawl. I managed to sneak brawl 2 days before its official release (this was when I had a relative working at a movie store who would give me rentals of games before release... until management said no months later after I snagged brawl). And boy, it was the most fun we had ever had when is came to playing smash. We would take turns playing through the Subspace Emissary, unlocking as much characters as possible doing so. Then hours later, after we beat the SSE, we played for hours on end in free for all, team matches, everything. In that ONE day, we had saved over 100 replays of moments we thought were "epic" or "amazing". Sadly, the SD card they were all on was lost, and every time I play brawl, I always want to somehow magically find it and watch them all, remembering all the reactions we had made when the amazing things happened.

It's times like those that are very memorable and the only way to do it is playing old-school offline, the way it should stay.

I know I rambled on a lot, but that's my view and how I experienced it, and I found it was the most fun I have ever had in terms of gaming.

A mixture of both. Its not the console/ device that matters, it's if you like the game or not. For example, I like playing Dream Drop, but I will go here on vizzed and do some netplay. (Or find people to brawl)

I play a mixture of both types, but a my favorite type of mixture example is Torchlight 2 or Halo Reach. Mainly because even when the game goes south and they shutdown the servers you can still play

I vote "I like a mixture of both" for when just online story suffers greatly, but when just offline re-play value diminishes, so with a mixture of both you get story AND re-play value. It is a golden blend that doesn't get a whole lot of recognition, because of games like WoW (online), and games like Legend of Zelda (offline). Of course that is just purely my reasoning behind my answer, others may think differently, but that's my opinion.

I honestly don't know. Online has a lot of annoying people on it, but offline gets boring after a while.

Offline unless I'm linking up in a two player game with someone I know. When online gaming, I always manage to run into jerks that ruin the entire experience. People like that seem to go looking for something to ruin.

even more and in a way it still has some lasting appeal if the game itself is great.
