Ok, so for a while now I have had a huge crush on a particular girl. We're into a lot of the same things, and can practically finish each others sentences. We're both huge anime fans, and have about a million other similarities. I just don't know if she even likes me at all. I've never been known for my extraordinary courage, and so I'm a little hesitant to try and ask her out, even though I think it would be a perfect nerds in love scenario. Should I go for it, or just not bother..?

Go for it. There is no point in not doing so unless you want to be spending a future moment in your life looking back and wondering 'What if?". If you do it and she doesn't feel the same way, it doesn't have to spoil the friendship. Just don't go overboard by confessing your undying love for her or something like that. Just ask her if she would like to go out sometime. Just going out sometime isn't some big commitment deal and doesn't mean you are dating. It is just a good ice breaker to open the opportunity for something to develop more naturally. But it won't kill you to just go for it, so why not?

I agree with what's been said. You'll never know if she actually likes you unless you take the time to find out. Just casually ask if she would like to do something sometime. Like said before, you don't have to confess your love or be super serious about it.
