This is some pretty cool s*** yo.

For those of you too lazy to click play the video displays a computer desktop with a see through monitor that operates with hand gestures in a 3D environment. You still have a keyboard and tracking ball but why use that when you can just grab the files with your hands

Damn, excercise.
=p
While that sounds cool i think the novelty would wear off, if you were using hand motions for everything youre wrist would probably start feeling fatigued. I guess if using in combonation with the normal peripherals it could be good.
Either way, that'l be expensive so i guess i wont know for some time.

Hmm, that's an interesting display, but I don't think it could ever take off. There will probably be some really neat applications, but I really couldn't see myself using this all day er'ry day.

That's pretty interesting there Zamiel. You know it kind of looks like the inside of a computer when you look at it, but I'm not so sure if it will ever be brought out to the real world...

thenumerone: You use your wrist to move your mouse and it's not like you'd have your hands constantly in the air.

And of course I really don't see this being used for everyday. It'd be a specialty computer. Kind of like the Wacom monitors that you can draw directly on.

Well this looks interesting. Some how I saw this one coming. We do have touch screen phones and ipads. Though I doubt I'll ever get one of these unless I become rich off my writing in the future~ Thanks for showing us this!

That is pretty awesome! I do think my arms would tire after a while, but still that's pretty cool.

Probably costs a TON though

It's definitely cool looking, but that doesn't matter to me at all. I assume it's eventually going to make working on the computer a lot faster and a lot more efficient. The video explaining that is what will make me decide to get on board with this.

Definitely a cool concept, but I don't see it becoming really popular.  Honestly the future of computers is cell phones.  They already have an android phone that can dual boot Linux (Think its an Ubuntu build), then dock and have access to the standard OS features as well as all of your android apps.  Before long your actual computer will go everywhere you are.

And then Skynet will become self aware, we should probably get John Connor in a bunker now...

iwxLeprechaun : Uhm... Andriods don't dual-boot GNU/Linux. Android is GNU/Linux. There are versions of Ubuntu that run on some android powered devices, but there are also ports of Plan-9 from Bell Labs that run on the same phones.

But I still think you're wrong. Just like people said "Laptops are the way of the future" and we still have desktops. There will always be a place for desktop computers. Just because kids don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.

Lazlo Falconi : I'm not saying all do.  And yes Android is a distribution of linux, but distributions vary greatly as you may know.   I'm saying that there is a distro of ubuntu developed to boot on mobile phones; separate from the android OS.  There is one in the works that is a fully functioning ubuntu system when docked that allows crossover access to your apps.

What do you mean that just because kids don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there?

Well, I don't think it will turn out. Too many lazy people don't want to hold their hands up. It's kind of a nice gimmick though.
