First I had no idea how old this thread was but it wasn't closed so I guessed why not post? First Tebow brought the Broncos to the playoffs in one year and sure they weren't that bad but they needed a good QB. Sure he isn't good as a practice QB but look at the comparison between Sanchez and Tebow. Tebow should be 2nd string and Sanchez 3rd this would just make since. Sure your right about the two-deep and three-deep coverage thing but he deserves some credit.

Elpizo :

I'm fine with keeping this thread open right now, because there is some debate about what will happen to Tebow. Also, the way the Jets handled him was somewhat controversial, so there's still plenty to talk about.

That said, I really don't think Tebow would have done any better than Sanchez this year. I don't think he's a good quarterback. But once the season was over for them, they should have at least given him a chance to prove himself. He could have surprised us, and it would have kept Mark Sanchez from doing even worse to close out the season; in fact, his poor games probably hurt his confidence quite a bit.

I think the route for the Jets is simple.  They simply make Tebow a running back, and use the other guy who actually won a game (forgot his name) next year.

mlb789 : I think that was McElroy. Or something. Yeah, he's better than Sanchez, he deserves a few chances to impress in Starting Position.

Personally, I think Tebow needs to be in Free Agency for a year, just to gather what he has, and see if he can offer any other positions besides QB since he lacks a bit of quality there.

As for Sanchez, just leave him as 2nd String.

pacman1755 :

The problem with keeping Sanchez is that they gave him a pretty nice contract, so he eats up a lot of the salary cap. If they can find a way to get rid of him, they should. But it's unlikely. Keeping him around is almost the worst case scenario. Best case, they're able to deal both Tebow and Sanchez and maybe pick up Alex Smith. But I really don't see that happening.

Nobody is going to want Tebow in a trade plain and simple. It's rare that trades even occur in the NFL. He will most likely be cut and very few teams will be interested in him. The only team that was said to be interested "Jacksonville" the new coach basically came out and said Tebow Sucks, which he does.

Sanchez at least went to back to back AFC title games. Sure he isn't that great but I think he's just breaking down from being in NY and having Rex Ryan as a coach.

Why would the 49ers want Sanchez...let alone Tebow? They have Kaepernick who is obviously the QB of the future. If for some reason they were able to deal Smith, it would probably be to a team that really needed a QB. The Cardinals come to mind as well as any other team that feels like they are close to competing.

The New York Jets should put Tebow on the free agents list so he just doesn't take money in the cap. Teams who need a QB such as the Kansas City Chiefs need a QB to help them, I just don't think Andy Reid can help them much. I think that Tebow should consider the options where he will get to play not caring about the difference between a high salary of a salary that a tam could afford. If Tebow sees an option of a place where he will get to play QB (NOT running back) he should take it weather the salary is 300 thousand and 500 thousand. 300 thousand is already a whole lot of money why not take it. Those greedy professional players. Not saying a team would give this amount of money. Just for an example.
