It's been reported that Valve (Makers of Steam, Portal, Half Life, etc.) is in the midst of developing a console based around Steam.

It has been dubbed "The Steam Box" and may debut at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) or at E3.

They've also been reported to release USB controllers based around Major League Gaming (MLG) Pro Controllers.

Do you happen to have a link for some article over this? I would like to read about it. I doubt I would buy it because I can just barely afford to purchase games for my Xbox 360. Although that would be different if it happened to be really cheap, but I doubt it. Still would be interesting to read about.

Oh, a console to play all of our Steam games for us on a computer that doesn't suck? (aka me) This would certainly be interesting.

But what about the people who actually have good computers? What reason would there be for them to buy one of these when they can just play on their computer/laptop?

This doesn't really affect me, since I already OWN almost every Valve game...

But still, it'd be interesting to see a Steam console... especially if they can get some third party people to develop for them.

Valve has the money to make a system... and they could even be a power if they really capitalized on their franchise... like not letting other consoles have their exclusives. They'd really be a contender.

A steam console would be interesting since they have a great platform already for distributing digital content to users. Just another step in the direction to getting rid of physical copies of video games.
