Why do men matter? do they to us girls?

They do, but I can't say I am impressed when they let me down, but being realistic, I may let them down to?

so come on Vizzed, why do men matter?

They matter because it would be very difficult to keep the human race alive without them.

Also everyone lets everyone down at some point, that's not a gender thing.

As KG said, they matter for the biological continuation of the species, first of all.

All people matter, of both genders. While societal roles don't really factor into it anymore, and we don't really need males to defend the young from wild animals or take down bears to feed the family, they still provide an entertainment factor when they try to act manly to impress us.

Just remember, individual people may not really matter to us, but you should never apply it to a group as a whole since we are not carbon copies of each other. One guy lets you down, doesn't mean the next will.

take a look at the problems that kids of single mothers get into and tell me that men (or more specifically fathers) don't matter.

Any man (or person) can be a good or bad influence on the people around them.

I agree with Elara that the traditional roles may not apply like they used to but men can still be a positive influence in their homes and communities by being upstanding individuals. They can have an influence for good and positive change.

There's a reason we fall in love. Newborns are very weak, malleable creatures. It's much more efficient to have two parents over one for such a vulnerable baby. Though men in our culture don't face challenges like they did in the past, a man is still seen as someone to be strong, yet tender, smooth, yet crazy, and so on. Plus, we make up about 49% of the human population so it would be nice to get along with everyone. Also, a large number of men are in power so they're decisions can change the landscape - literally and figuratively - quite a bit.

Honestly, I think men and women are the same and very different. We all more or less want the same things, we all do many of the same things (albeit with a twist), and we all need each other.

We all get frustrated by other people whether they be off they same or opposite sex. However, once we understand where the other is coming from and when we perhaps temper our expectations on others, we can see that we all have our quirks.

Importance goes hand and hand with value. Some of us may not consciously value men. To those people, men may not be seen as important.

Sorry! I think I got off-topic. I've let plenty of people down and I think about that on a daily basis. Usually it's good intentions that lead to disappointment, at least for me. Sometimes I pile up promises and it turns out that I put too much pressure on myself and I end up not fulfilling any of them.

Yes, men matter, as well as other things. Everything is put on earth for a reason or because of a cause.  I don't support femnism nor do I support masculinism, but we women are very capable of doing things for ourselves these days.  Men are capable as well of course.  If you want to be technical, I think men are important to the fact that their sole purpose is to reproduce and pass on genes.

There are quite a few good uses men still have even though we don't live in a world where we must defend form predators anymore. Like Elara, said we are fairly good for entertainment for you ladies . But also, women now have other uses for us. Isn't it usually the guy who gets up every time the girl needs them to get something? Heck, my fiancee rarely has to get up to get something because I do it for her. A lot of guys are more willing to be slaves like that than you would imagine. We do those little things for you. Although, like it has been said already, it doesn't apply to all guys. Just a lot of us. Also, women need men because they can only tolerate being around other girls so much. Seriously, when you have girls that are around each other all the time, they get sick of each other. Girls can get more diabolical and mean to each other than guys typically do. A lot of sorority girls I know say it looks friendly from the outside, but in the house, there is constant bickering and fighting. You girls need us to get away from that  (Hope I'm not being offensive. Like I said, this doesn't apply to the whole gender)

This is a very good question. I think all human beings matter. Some can hurt you, but not everyone. I had a bad father growing up, but my older brothers showed me that men can be kind as well. I think it just depends on what kind of person you are. Some are nice, and some are mean. So men and women both matter. Just sometimes we end up meeting bad ones, but like Elara said, just because one person does something bad to you doesn't even everyone will. This is something I try to remind myself of every day. Heck, I am sure I've done stupid things to people, but all I can really do is learn from it and try to do better next time.
