Well I got $50 of Best Buy gift cards for christmas.  So this past weekend I got a portable media player (playes movies and music) with that money.  It's called Mach Speed Eclipse 4gigs media player.  It said it came with all the programs you need to rip movies and music from websites and then transfer it to the media player.  Well I installed all their programs but when you turn them on you have to pay loads of money to activate the programs!!!!

So instead I went and used firefox plugins to do all that for me for free.  Problem #2 arises with that the media player keeps saying wrong format even though it does allow FLV(flash), avi, and windows media videos.   So I looked online and in a stray little blog a person said you had to use real player converter to change the size to 320X240. 

Well now I go use this but then I realize the firefox plugin to download the movies I got only downloads 9 minutes of the movie.  So I decided I'll use one program only!  REAL PLAYER!!!  Real player will download the movies and convert them into either movies or music!  So now I can put all my stuff on my new media player without big trouble! 

So after many days of figuring this thing out I finally got it to work!

Though this is one reason why I really like my cell phone for watching things on. When it says it supports .avi, it supports ALL of them. (that I've come across, at least)

And before that, I had my PSP, which I found a handy-dandy program that auto-downloaded the videos and converted them into the format PSP preferred (some special encoding of .mp4)

Before even that, I just took my laptop around. Job done. =D

Well that's fantastic! I feel that I should warn you about Real Player, though. It installs loads of ad-ware and spyware on your PC and generally mucks about with things. It steals all of your file extension associations and reports back to Real Networks about what you've been listening to, how long you've been listening to it, and what you're putting on your media player.

Lazlo Falconi :   Thanks for the warning, though I've used real player products since it came out and never had any trouble.  It has been loyal to me more than windows media player ever could.  I'll keep an eye on it though.

I don't think this thread should be in the your forum section because I am talking about an electronic device.  But oh well we will see what the mods think.
