Alright so I left my page on Vizzed open while still logged in and I opened a new page. I opened a bunch of new tabs (work-related). Once I was done with my tabs, I noticed that it said it read "You opened too many tabs, come back too vizzed in x seconds." So I waited and when I refreshed it said "Your IP has been banned from Vizzed for opening too many pages". I admit, I was potently worried. After about a few minutes, though, I was un-banned. This is very odd. Not just for getting banned for just a few minutes but the fact that you can get banned just for having too many tabs. Could I have an explanation please? Any answer would be appreciated, thank you.

This was implemented for security due to DOS attacks. I don't remember the full details, except expect that to happen if you have to many tabs open on the site.

Yeah.. With a Load of tabs up..
Who knows what you could have possibly been doing..
Not that im saying you were trying to hack vizzed..
But It probably as to avoid this.. (If) those many tabs were to have been for Hacking..

I think it's kind of silly to ban someone for having too many tabs open at all. I can clearly understand limiting the number of tabs open on Vizzed at one time, however, what is it to you how many tabs I have open?

Furthermore, this action was not clearly defined in the rules--and trust me, I read them--and is a HUGE violation of the users' trust. It was not explained that you would be monitoring the number of tabs open in our browser in the terms and agreement of using the site, and it is absolutely, morally wrong.

If you want to stop DDoS attacks, fine, only allow a certain number of tabs to be directed at vizzed.com. But don't tell me I can't have twenty tabs open to other sites.

Also opening a bunch of tabs for a DoS attack is really a quite silly thing to do.

It's not about how many tabs are opened. As far as I know, that isn't monitored at all. There are just security features designed to temporarily ban a user who opens too many pages at once. Last year we got a ton of DOS attacks. The attacks put a ton of strain on the server. It was a serious problem for at least a month or two (maybe longer).

This security feature cut the attack short as soon as it started. Occasionally temp banning users for executing too many pages too quickly is a side effect. Also, not all of the DOS attacks targeted the home page. Some of them targeted other specific pages on the site. We have no way of knowing what page they'll pick.

Just to be clear, you could theoretically run 1000 tabs if you wanted as long as you didn't open them too quickly.


This happened to me earlier. Personally I don't enjoy it, but it's better than having the site crash for a few hours.

Earlier today I was doing some maintenance and for a few minutes, everyone accidentally got banned. It got fixed right away.
