Is there a youth centre in the area you live?

What can you do there, how many people and who made it, are trying to make it work?

Or is there something similar where you can spend your time?

And what do you think of such places? Should there be more of them? Or none at all?
Or what would you like to do in such a place?

Yeah, we have one. I went to it for a while, but I stopped. I really enjoyed it while it lasted, but I just fell out of the habit of spending time with that particular group of friends, so I stopped going.

I'd say there's about 10-15 people who regularly visit, and that's including the adult volunteers who "supervise" it.

They just recently switched buildings, actually, so now it's better than it used to be. Couches and chairs, obviously... There's a big TV, people can bring videogames and movies. You can pay for snacks and soda. There's pool and foosball tables. A full-size gymnasium (since it's inside a community center). Sometimes people bring food to share. They also organize different event nights every month, which are marked on the giant calendar on the wall... for example, karaoke nights. There's also no swearing allowed.

It might sound lame to some people, but I think it's pretty legit, if you're with people your own age. It's fun because it's an escape from daily routine, and a good excuse to go enjoy yourself and be social.

I have rarely spent time in a youth center. Every time I went into one I felt strange.
There are several near my house since I live in a large city. Nothing too amazing, kids just play basketball and stuff like that.

There are only one or two around here from what I've seen. I vaguely remember being in one, but I'm not too sure of what I actually did. OH well, they don't interest me now.

It's odd but there never have been any in the places I live.  Kinda lame it was always school and home no place to really go after school...  Though in high school my school allowed kids to hang out till the late busses that was cool.  I was part of an anime/game club in high school we spent our time in the hide out spots in school lol!  All the rooms were closed off so that's why we could only hang out in hide out spots or the lunch room.

Hmm... Yeah I was sort of an adjunct member of a youth group when I was in school. It was pretty fun. I'd say there were probably about 10 other kids my age, and then two adults that supervised it. Well, there were probably about six adults, but they rotated in groups of twos. It was sponsored by a local church, so it was a little different than your typical youth group, but for the most part, it was just a place for kids to go after school to stay out of trouble. They had a few Play Stations and an air hockey table and fooze ball and things like that. We also went out and played soccer or football most days, and basketball. Every now and then they'd do a "lock-in" which was just a big sleep over in the church. We played games and watch movies and just hung out. There was SOME prayer but it wasn't even that often. We also took a couple trips to different events. I'd say it was a pretty good time in my life.

I'm sure this counts.
Back when I was, oh, say, 8-14, I was a member of Scouts Canada through my family's church.
I never did too much with them, being the antisocial git I was, but I always made it a point of going along with them when they went on camping trips. Whenever they did, I was rarely seen. I would always be walking around in the forests, wading and swimming in rivers and creeks, just enjoying nature.....

To this day I can only tie two knots.

I'm a volunteer down the local youth centre of Hounslow, London UK

we have all kinds of different activities across the week

but the two I help with are our sports club and our social group

we mainly work with people who have special needs and/or handicapped

we go out on trips to amusement parks like Thorpe Park
