My first Sonic was Sonic 2, I played it all ways when I was a little boy, still think it is the best of them.  
I have Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood on Nintendo DS it's also very fun, and u only use that DS pen, nothing else, so the RPG styled battles are sometimes very funny if you use their special abilities.

My favorite might sound a little weird, but it has to be Sonic Adventure.  I still remember every time i went to grandmas house i would play that on my Dreamcast and have a blast!  That was at the time that i was beginnin to become a gamer so it had a big impact on me.  It also got me into Sonics lore and his other fantastic games.

my all time fav sonic game is sonic generations cuz how awesome the game play is and the fact that u can play as new school sonic and old school sonic and i love the hub world and they added challenge maps to spice things up a little and the bosses are awesome they added the final boss of sonic 2 the final boss of sonic adventurer and the where hog boss of sonic unsealed sega did a great job

Sonic Heroes or Sonic Riders for the GameCube. Sonic Heroes because it is the first game I own and still have. Sonic Riders, because I find it entertaining, plus I actually can beat it. I don't usually beat racing games, so that makes me feel proud.

I use to play sonic allot when i was younger i only played the classics on sega tho i never played any after that on gamecube or whatever i just wasn't into them anymore....(mainly do to me getting frustrated allot and breaking my controllers...)  but when i played the sega ones id have to say my favorite was sonic and knuckles do to the fact of well you can play knuckles and hes one of my favorites i use to watch the tv show allot and he just grew on me there then i was finally able to play the game he was in and i was hooked for a time until well new consoles came out however he will always retain a special spot in my heart ^^

Despite the VERY, VERY slippery controls, I put Sonic Heroes as my favourite Sonic game, with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle being a close runner-up.
I love the stages in Sonic Heroes (Casino Park/ Bingo Highway and Hang Castle/ Mystic Mansion are my absolute favourites) and I enjoy the character battles more than I did in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
Also it introduced Omega (One of my favourites) and brought back Vector, Espio, and Charmy (All of which are also some of my favourite characters).

My favorite Sonic game from the Classic series is Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles. My favorite from the Modern Era has to be Sonic Generations because they got the formula for 3D gaming correct. I hope they can do the same for Sonic Boom.

The Planned Accident : Mine would be Sonic and the Black Knight. I know many people don't like that game, but it was the first Sonic game I played and I had many great memories from it. Plus, the music is awesome, especially Misty Lake, which is my favorite background music in the game!
