I have never got shampoo in my eye before.  I close my eyes tightly when I am washing my hair and I wrap a towel around my head lol.  I take no chances.

This is really difficult to do and kind of painful and I don't recommend doing it, but I look up at the shower head and open my eyes so the water it pouring onto them. You get the stinging and the water pattering down on your eyes unfortunately.
