Have you ever had a sibling that would play YOUR console all day and you never get a chance to play it as much?  It is very annoying to see this, especially when waking up and seeing them playing it.  As some of you know, I got my PS3 for Christmas and it was only for me.  Ever since my brother hogs it all the time and always asks me if he would want to play while I am on it.  I did get my console on Black Friday (a month before Christmas) and I wanted to wait to play it on Christmas because I knew that my brother would hog it, so I waited and he still hogs it.  If only there was a way to set a password for the system so that I would let him play it when I feel like it.  If there is, please tell me how.  How annoying can your siblings be?  I am about to put it in my room if this keeps it up.

I know how you feel.  My brother's friend just comes over to our house just to play our Xbox when he has his at home.
I think you and your brother should make out a schedule and if he disagrees then keep it in your room then.

Thats pretty bad,id get annoyed.
You could make it so your account dosent remember your login password, and change the system settings (when you were done) so that it only allows you to play games with a 1 violence rating(under parental controls)
That would essentialy bar him from playing any games and to change it he'd need to log into your account.

Yes, my little brother is always playing the Xbox, while I have other TV's and systems, I like the Xbox a little more than the rest.

Well yeah I can understand .....how you feel about it I was also about in a similar position like this years before....I think if you put it in your room it will be a little harsh...

Well if his a kid then you can tell him to regulate the duration of playing it.....

But it is a bit like that I think the situation is like that in many houses...

Here's what I'd do.

Take the wires.

You can leave the system, but take the wires, whether it's the power cord, the AV cords, or hell, even the controller.

If he can't play it until you wake up oh well.

If it's your system, and he's hogging it, then you have every right to tell him it's yours.

I kind of know how you feel. I don't have my "own" system, but I do have to share it with siblings and it's no fun when they take forever on them. And then I have to wait to play whatever I want and when they're done, it's too late to play anything for a long period of time. =c

I guess that's happened to you too, hasn't it?

This is one reason why I am glad that my older brother wasn't near as much into video games as me, and a reason why I am glad that I moved out before my little brother got as into video games as he is now. I lucked out that way. Anyway, Most of my suggestions were already suggested. I was going to say hide the wires, but he could find them eventually. I really like the idea of not having it remember your password for your account and changing the parental settings. Unless your brother mainly plays games that would pass a 1 mature rating setting, then you are set to go without having to hide wires all the time. It is your system, so he has no right to play it. When he asks while you play, you have a right to say he can play it after you decide you are done and continuing to ask will not make it go any faster. That will also make it to where he couldn't bring his friends over to play it without your permission.

rcarter2 : Oh wow, your right.  Moving out is the key of removing that issue.  In fact, I am going to be enrolled in college in the fall and me and my parents are thinking about either finding myself an apartment or stay with them and live near the college.  I hope it is getting an apartment for me.

Marcmoney : I honestly wouldn't suggest an apartment right away simply because getting used to being in charge of yourself is a big adjustment. It might now seem like much, but it is a time you get to finally get to make your own living mistakes. It is very easy to fall behind on monthly payments because it doesn't seem real. I would suggest dorm living before going right to apartment. That is unless your parents are planning on paying your rent for your apartment. If that is the case, screw dorm living!

I'm...semi-guilty for being a hogger .  That's only because my brother doesn't play the PS3 as much as me (we have to share it). Well if he's little just tell your parents about it. But if he's a teen then just come out and say no and that you'll let him play when you feel like it. I think putting it in your room would be the best solution as it was said. Hide either your controller or the wires when you're sleeping and when you're away.

Hoggers can be pretty annoying. I wait for hours to get on the PC when my sister says that I can go on in a few minutes, or she plays all night and doesn't let me on because "she didn't go on today". Still, she's my sister and I love her.

Well I have a younger brother, sooo... yes. He got Call of Duty for Christmas a few years ago and played it non-stop until he beat it. The fact that I also got a game for a gift didn't matter
