I have been looking up research about this issue and I am not sure what is right and what is wrong.  Do you think that it is compatible with any of the PS1 or PS2 games? Please help me find this situation out.  Thank you.

EDIT: I found out that it is not compatible with PS2 games, but still am not sure about PS1 games since I do not have one.

This doesn't revolve around future games, so it should be moved.

It does have compatibility with PS1 and PS2.

Yes it is. I had a 60GB Model. All my games worked. I noticed frame rate differences for whatever reason at some points for not long, but for the most part I couldn't find any difference other than the anti-aliasing and upscaling the built in hardware/software does for the PS1 & Ps2 games.

I was going through my old games and decided to see whether my brother's PS3 can play PS1 games. It works. I don't think my brother's console is the "fat" one, but rather the "slimline" version instead. I believe it is a 160GB model.

EDIT: I should mention that the graphics may look a bit chopped up, but that could depend on what game you are playing so I see no harm in at least trying.

AuraBlaze : Actually, I think mine is the simline because it says "PS3" on it instead of "Play Station 3." So thank you for letting me know.

I always heard that the Playstation 3 was not reverse compatible. So many people were complaining about it saying it was a huge mistake on Sony's part. Does that mean their latest models have incorporated reverse compatibility due to customer complaints? Regardless, I won't be buying one. But if it is, I know some people who would be interested in this because they didn't buy the Playstation 3 specifically because it was too expensive to not be reverse compatible.

AuraBlaze : Aura could you check if it is a 160g model and not a 60g? If it's a slim it will have a non reflective casing, for example the phat models had a sleek black reflective finish for the outside casing. maybe a picture idk... I'd appreciate your feedback though.
