I think its bound to happen at some point. Just the other day David showed me a list of whats selling over the other. Nintendo is owning in all categories with Wii's selling like hot cakes while xbox is a bit behind. PS3 is way behind!!! Nintendo DS is beating PSP as well.

If you see all the merging going on I would actually like to see this take shape.

I can see Sony merging with Microsoft to create some sort of Windows XPBOX which is basically a computer and gaming system although XP is kinda discontinued so that name wouldn't work. Maybe a XPSBOX or PSXBOX. On the other hand I see Sega merging with Nintendo to create a Nintendo Dreamcast 2 or WiiCast lol, kinda of like a mix between a wii and the previous dreamcast.

If this were to happen who would you go with?

It's obvious Microsoft and Sony are all about technology and like to make money off technology but I think Sega and Nintendo would win as far as gaming is concerned since they have proved to us games are not all about graphics, but gameplay whereas Sony and Microsoft seem to only aim for better graphics.

What do you think?

I don't ever see any of these companies combining forces but Sega with Sony or Nintendo is probably the only possibilities. I don't see Windows combing with anyone. Sega needs help though if it wants to go back into the console business though so I could see them trying to get with either Nintendo or Sony but even then Sega is just doing too well to stop what it's doing.

I would much rather have an PSCUBE instead.

Cube because of nintendo originals and ps because of quirky japanese games an rpgs.

I don't expect any merge at all at the moment though.

I could see Nintendo and Sega merging to make a system seeing how a lot of sega games are exclusive to the nintendo wii or ds and even games where mario and sonic are together. I don't see sony or microsoft merging though.

And if for some reason sony starts to do really bad in the next few years, it could be possible sega would team up with them for a "Dreamstation" lol, but probably not.

Those companys will never merge .

As for the sales of consoles, are you looking at $$ profit, or consoles sold. I read an article once that nintendo are braging about there sales, them someone kinldy points out that there consoles are almost half the price of the other consoles. So its not that they sold more consoles, its that people with less money will by the cheapest next gen console

I mean; They both WERE using cd-roms when nintend was still using cartridges.

Well hardware has never really been Microsoft's forray. As long as the hardware has a "Windows" sticker on the front of it the big Micro$oft is happy. So I could see some other companies hardware combined with xbox live with the next gaming system. Perhaps not though. I would like too see one common game system that anyone could develop, something like an open source one. That way there would be no profit margin on the hardware, maybe something modular. An example would be dvd's its a group collaboration.

Oh, please, heavens no, may Microsoft never merge with anyone. Seriously. They are like a virus, slowly infection the world's brain. Soon we will all be caught in it's tendrils of corruption, and we will all be slaves of Bill Gates for all eternity.

Sega might combine with Nintendo to release a console, but hopefully never merge. Sega has made good games on their own. Nintendo as well. The 2 need not combine.

It's like Square Enix. If they didn't combine, we'd have gotten twice as much games per year that rocked.

Doesn't change the fact that he started it all...

So he handed down the company to some lucky SOB who will now have time to earn his billion dollars and continue the cycle until somebody messes up and the company goes bankrupt, what's the big deal
