Hi there!  My name is Mary and I just signed up for the forums since I like video games, even though I'm terrible!  I've always wanted to play Earthbound/Mother/whatever the accepted title is, so this looked like my chance.
As I mentioned, I'm a terrible gamer, but I do like playing them.  My favorites are pretty much Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon 64, Nintendogs, Pokémon (and Snap!), Golden Sun and Baten Kaitos.
Aside from those games, I read a lot of books - I'm fond of YA lit, Osamu Tezuka, Bryan Lee O'Malley and Brian K. Vaughan to name a few.  I'm also big on movies (especially Disney!), music (They Might Be Giants!  The Apples in Stereo! The Archies!), and doodling.
I guess that's about it, I'll try my best to not be a hit and run newbie and I'm looking forward to gaming here.

Welcome to the board. You don't have to be great at games to fit in here . Well, I think I am gather from your list of favorites what games you will play here. Any that you plan to play that aren't related to your favorite list? Also, I have only played one Baten Kaitos. I can't remember the name, and don't feel like looking for it in my game pile. But it is the one where they are trying to restore the Ocean. The main character is the one who was born with only one wing and has a prosthetic one made by his grandfather. Have you played that one? I got through it, and really liked it. Which Baten Kaitos is your favorite?

@laian Thank you!  To be completely honest with you, I just did a search on Google for 'play earthbound snes' and saw this so I thought as long as I was playing, I should try to join the community  It looks fairly active, which is a little intimidating (as are the post formats, haha) but you guys are friendly so far, which is very rad!

@rcarter2 Well, I really really want to play the Mother games, so I'm going to be playing those FOR SURE. I don't know what other titles I'd play off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are going to be a lot of good ones.  I don't have any pre-N64 consoles, so I'm looking forward to retro titles.  And it sounds like you played Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean!  What a beautiful game with a great soundtrack!  The voice acting is a little ... well, I'm sure you know since you played it, but once you put that aside, it's good.  Truthfully, I prefer Baten Kaitos Origins, the prequel, more because I like more of the characters in it and I thought it was really neat to visit all of the continents from Wings twenty years in the past.  And there is like, time travel involved which was crazy and cool.  If you have the chance to play that one, definitely go for it!  The battle system was improved, in my opinion and so is the voice-acting.  My only complaint is that you don't get to visit Mira (the illusion continent with the village made of pastries, the funky psychedelic one and the upside down garden - if you remember that) but everything else makes up for it.

You don't have to worry what you might think about your gaming. It's not like we're playing for competition anyways (not unless you want to). I'm also a big fan of the Earthbound/Mother series. Have you only played Earthbound? If so, I definitely suggest trying out Mother 3 as well.

Yeah. You got the title right. I agree that the voice acting was a little cheesy. But the environments were absolutely stunning. SO colorful. Anyway, just one thing I noticed. If you want to respond to a user, you can summon them so it shows up in their notifications. Instead of putting the @ sign before the username, simply type the this (I'll use me username as an example).   rcarter2: just like this. You know you did it right if the username is colored and linked. Remember, the username must be the first thing on the line, or it doesn't work. There can also be no space before it. And remember to put a space between the   :  and the message you are typing. If you have any other questions or run into problems, feel free to ask. That is what the staff is here for.

Someone70 : This is actually my first foray into the series, unless you count Super Smash Bros. As soon as I play Earthbound Zero and Earthbound, I definitely intend to play Mother 3 because Lucas is pretty much the cutest little guy ever.

I will also note that you cannot summon people by editing your posts. Summoning only works on the original post. This just keeps down on a lot of potential issues with over summoning.
