I've noticed when talking about nostalgia most people mention the same shows and either watched Nickor CN. A few watched Toonami and have all become anime fan of today but the ones that didn moved on to other thing. Also I've noticed that no matter what a show is chances are if its old and like by a few people it's like by everyone. And people didn't discover other channels until they turned 12 MTV,etc outside of Nick and CN?

I'm not 100% sure what your question is exactly. Can you rephrase the question a little?

Well, MTV wasn't exactly a channel geared towards 12 year olds. The reason why people remember and adore shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog and Pinky and the Brain is because that's what was on those channels at that time. There weren't a ton of TV cartoons back then, so if it was liked, then that usually meant everyone liked them. Nowadays, selections are probably more diverse, as you would recognize when you're a bit older. People like different things, but many of them have common roots in older shows.

Why isb it that everyone has common roots in the same tv shows but different tastes as they row older. For example someone that likes football will remember the same shows as someone whos into anime a common root they both liked DBZ when they were around 7 but when they grow older that taste changes so much?

Oh. I see. I would say it is because the shows you watch don't shape your personality. Even though people the same age have common roots of tv shows when they were younger, their personalities shape differently as they grow older, so that means they won't like the same shows when they are older.

I would say it's because there are only so many mainstream shows geared towards children while there are a lot more geared towards adults.

If I asked you to name a TV network made for just kids, you could probably name only 3 or 4 of them. And that's where kids tend to spend all of their time. So it's no wonder that everyone watched the same shows. And since kids tend to have lower expectations than adults, everyone remembers liking the same things when they were younger.

And since some parents are concerned about thier childern watching anything violent or bad, they just turn the TV on a channel intented for kids and assume there's nothing that would be a bad influence on them in the shows. Which, like Someone70 pointed out, is only 3 or 4 channels.

Also, kids just liked cartoons, and channels like Nick and CN had a lot of them. Not to mention, Partically everyone watched them, so their were plently of other kids your age to joke about the latest episode of Spongebob with. When I was in elementary, everyone in my class watched more or less the same thing. But, as we got older, we started to explore and became fasinated with other shows outside well known childern's channels, to the point where everyone developed their own taste in TV, music, fashion, everything.

Hope that answers you're question.
