I normally like my desktop nice and clean, but ever since I saw that black lion Sunflower posted, I have that as my desktop background.  However, my husband today said that it was fake and when I read up on it... yep, it's fake.  So I was sad.  I think I'll make my desktop just plain old black again.  LOL

My desktop looks something like this at the moment. I cycle through colors/themes by the season. It's purple in the fall. You can't see in the image, but my browser's also skinned to match that as well (in other words, FireFox and Opera are also purple).

In the winter, it turns red, green in the spring, and blue in the summer.

Singelli : Yeah, I made everything in that except I didn't draw the character used as a basis (I can't draw). This includes the "System" and "Weather" boxes in the upper-right corner.

As for the background itself, I used C4D effects in Photoshop to create the weird orbs of darkness that are set behind the character. It's really just the same image pasted over and over at different sizes and angles and whatnot... nothing to special.

I'm not a good teacher, but I'm willing to at least try to help you figure out how to do some things in Photoshop if you have that. Most of the graphics I make are me just doing random stuff arbitrarily... experimenting and seeing how stuff ends up. I don't really have anything special in mind that I'm aiming for when I do them 9 times out of 10.
