It all depends on what the specific model of those processors are For instance, an Intel Core i3-370M clocks at 2.40 GHz, but an i3-380M will clock in at 2.53 GHz. I suggest checking out http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php, great site in my opinion. I will tell you this though, I did a quick comparison between the processors when they are both clocked to run at 2.40 GHz (i3-370M and 2 Quad Q6600), and the Core 2 Quad is the winner.

Personally I like the i3 better. The computers that I have worked with that had it ran a whole lot faster than 2 quad. Then again it could be due to the things they were running on the PC.
