Have you ever gotten something from the Dollar Store and it turns out that it was actuallygood quality and it worked for years. Well the two things I bought from the dollar storewere ear buds for my Ipod and they block out sound and they have great sound quality and they are still working now and I have had them for a long time. I also bought a laserpointer that I have had for about a year and it still works great. What have youbought from the dollar store that was good quality? If you get lucky then you can findsomething of great quality! (If this thread is in the wrong category then sorry about that)

That's why I just save up and get something that will last a long time.

The only thing I buy from 99 cent stores are big bags of candy....even though it's 2 dollars plus tax for each bag, it's well worth it.

My local dollar store sells big packages of pretty good quality napkins. Otherwise, nothing else I have found there really is worth while, other than maybe the candy (although you can find the candy for the same price in regular stores anyways).

I rarely go to dollar stores, but they have been helpful. Back when I had plenty of time to used for my part-time job, I would get a gallon jug of water to use for myself, and refill it as necessary. Other than that, the one item I have used for a few years and still have today is a nice set of sunglasses.

I've never found any quality things at a dollar store, unless you count huge packs of beef jerky.

Nah. Dollar stores are a ripoff. Most of the things they sell for a dollar, you can get for 50 cents elsewhere.

I generally avoid dollar stores unless I need the convenience.

Yes. Totally.

I found good and real packs of Pokemon cards for less than one dollar. 99 cents, to be exact.

They all had a shiny in it, and I bought like 10 packs because it was a good deal. (Did I mention that they were all real?)

Snowdeath : Ya, they are selling Pokemon cards at my Dollar Store too.  I haven't bought any yet but I think they might have Yu-Gi-Oh now too.

I've found nothing of good quality, except for a small Zen garden. I'm still wondering how the heck is it not useless yet :|

I will go to dollar stores from time to time for non-consumable goods like paper products, jars, or scan through small used products that would often be more beat up if you had bought them at a pawn shop or "guess the price" thrift store.

I never buy anything consumable (food or junk food) at a dollar store because it can often be deceiving to do so. You walk into a well-known grocery chain and find a boxed product for $3. You then go to the dollar store and find the same product right down to the brand name for 99 cents. How is this possible? It's because, even though the label is exactly the same, they were not produced the same. The dollar store version of the product is usually produced using shortcuts: alternate versions of and fewer of the healthy ingredients and/or fewer quality control and safety checks. With less money spent making the product, they can sell it more cheaply. Look at the side / back / bottom of boxes which you think are the exact same product and you will usually have small print indicating that they are intended for said dollar store. The company wants to make sure that, if there is ever any question, under which circumstances the product was manufactured.

All of that said, I have never found anything of particular value at a dollar store.
