I had to ask this because some would not notice it and some would notice it, but what do you think about the audience laughing in the background on a television show.  I seem to not care some of the time, but when something is not funny and they laugh, it is just stupid.  Are these actual audiences or just fake cause some of it sound exactly the same.  Do you not care about it or does it seem to be annoying some of the time when the funny time is not right?  I think that it should not have it cause it would make the shows more funnier without an audience.

I don't really care because I barely notice them. But sometimes when there is a joke I don't get and they laugh that's when I notice them.

I've often thought about that exact question. It used to bother me... I hardly watch TV anymore though because I'm too busy most of the time; when I do though I don't notice it that much. If I do, I just change the channel and flip through them to find something else.

In most shows it's just canned laughter and half the time there isn't even a live audience. So no it doesn't really bother me because a lot of it is just the opinion of those who made the show. If they think people should laugh at a certain point they'll just use their crappy canned laughter.

To me, it can be annoying. They're pretty much assuming that we're too stupid to know when to laugh. Plus, the joke might not be funny at all, so why have a laugh track if nobody's gonna laugh anyway?

No I do not really care that is unless they tell a really dumb joke on a sitcom and they laugh. I think that it is just really dumb then. Though when I am watching stand up I like the audience feed back. I know that they are not fake. Though on sitcoms they typically are.

others I think they used the same sounds over and over...
yes it does bother me for example 2 and 1/2 men have the audiance and sometimes they make a seond joke after a pretty good one and I miss it because of the audiance making noise

I actually grew up watching sitcoms, so the audience doesn't really bother me I agree with hnnn the only time they really are a bother to me is if they are laughing and I can't understand what the person is saying.

I have watched several sitcoms with a live audience, and I have seen several that use canned laughter. I do not remember if I ever ended up with the audience downing out the voices of the actors. I do remember seeing the actors wait for the audience to quiet before continuing a conversation they were in the midst of. So far, I do not have any problems with audiences. I prefer live audiences anyway.
