I think mine is somewhere between 14 adn 15 inches wide. It's not huge, but there isn't really room for anything bigger on the desk the computer is on.

My desktop is 15.6" @ 1280x1024. Yeah, that's right, 5:4. Forget widescreen I hate that junk. Except it does make watching HD video weird...

My laptop is 14.4" @ 1440x1050. To be honest I don't think anyone needs a monitor bigger than 14.4" because that's just less room for another monitor.

Oh yeah I also have a netbook with a 9" screen.
