I would want to go into space if it was not for how weightlessness has the ability to damage your body in a variety of ways.  Other than that, though, I would want to go for the sheer enjoyment of seeing how small the earth is compared to the rest of the universe.

I'm not sure. I feel pretty mixed emotionally about this. Being in an orbiting ship would be scary, because I'm so used to being on Earth. But taking some friends and living on a moon colony for a couple months would be cool.

A part of me would love to take a trip into space, another part of me tell the first part to shut and be happy that we have an endless supply of air to breath and something solid on which to stand.

In all honesty, I think I would only want to go into space if I had the ability to travel far beyond our moon. Otherwise, I would just be seeing things the dozens of other people may or may not have seen (still not convinced we ever actually stepped on the moon, but I am open to the idea.) I would rather go beyond our own solar system and see what lies out in the great unknown. Hopefully, it would be something more to the tune of 2001: A Space Odyssey and less like Aliens or Independence Day.

Your shuttle (or ship since they cancelled the shuttle program) could explode, your jets might give out halfway into the atmosphere-splat, you could miss your target and go sailing out into endless space with no way of getting home, you could crash into an infinite number of things, a solar storm could burn you to a crisp, the list goes on and on. But all of that said, I think I might enjoy it .
