Well when a member signs up, a verification link gets sent to their email address and it's the responsibility of the user to check their email and follow that link to activate their account. I do sometimes email those members to further explain to them the concept of activating their account - some reply, others do not.

Yeah some activations do go there but we've made it clear in the registeration that the activation email might go to the junk mail folder so these people are probably just really lazy or just don't care. They could also just be bots because apparently there's bots that are programmed to sign up to sites now days, as to why some sites have those verification images where you have to type out the letters/numbersin the image

I've seen "google bot" tons of times, it's one of the guests that are on when the board is up. Completely normal.

Anyway, the users awaiting activation are, like David said, either too lazy to bother opening the email or don't know where it is.

Most other guests are bots aswell, i just havnt managed to find there ip range and put there name in like with googlebot. (Yahoo bot is there aswell, just dont have proper IP range).
