Hey guys, doughman90 here, invader of the minecraft era. Today I will be talking about flppy disks. Yes, the data holders that started the slogan "take your data with you!" from whopping 8-inchers to 3.5 inches, floppy disks are in any size, and even the most updated could hold a mere 100 m.b. or so. What i'm here to talk about, though, is i'm bringing floppy back!! Yep, i have 5 floppy disks next to me right now, and I am ordering a usb floppy disk adapter. Why? Because  don't use 8 gigs, 4 gigs, 2 gigs, or even 1 gig in a semester, I actually checked, I dont even use 1/2 of 1 g.b!!!!!! So, I'm fine with 7.20 megs, because:
1. I am VERY organized, so I delete files daily. with that "file ocd", I have like 990 megs still open in my 1 g.b usb flash drive, so I gathered up enough floppy disks to fit that need of deleting files.
2: They look AWESOME!!!
So, while we're talking about floppy disks, I have questions for you guys!!! Do you remember you first computer? If so, what was it and do you still have it?? And, Do you remember using a floppy disk? If so, what for? Reply with your answer and maybe i'll respond!!

Yep my old junker PC is on the floor right now and it has a floppy disk spot in it. I never really used them that much too my knowledge just because I don't remember much from those days. Though I doubt you can bring them back.

My old Windows 98 had a 3.5 AND an 8 inch floppy drive. I had floppy disks for it, too, but none of the 8 inch disks worked, and the 3.5 inch disks had nothing interesting in it. Fortunately, it had a CD Drive too, so it was all good.

I haven't had that computer in forever, I'm sorry to say. Otherwise I would. I think we gave it to somebody else. Along with the disks.

doughman90 : Sorry to tell you man, but floppy disks died for a reason. The incredibly tiny data limit is the least of the reasons why. I think the biggest thing that killed floppy is it extreme vulnerability to data corruption. A ding, drop, or just a bit of pressure will render most of your data useless. Not to mention porn didn't back it. I'm not a huge believer in that concept, but it has been proven true so far. I wish it weren't so because I'm a huge supporter of Blu Ray, but look at vhs and DVD. Porn backed them so mini disks and beta max died. Even though beta max was superior as was, in my opinion, mini disk. However, if you really want to bring it back, find a way to make them more resilient and hold more data and I think you'll be onto something. As humans though, we look for the most convenient way to do everything. Floppy just isn't as portable, durable, or useful as a USB or the countless other ways we have of storing data. Not to mention a floppy disk will only hold about a minute of one song on your play list. We live in the iPod era. Gotta deal w/ it.

So you take the drive around with you too?
That works out heavier, more expensive, and less capacity than a flash drive.

thenumberone : No! It is small, so I can keep it in my computer bag, and it weighs like 4 oz, so it;s not that much of a difference. And again, I don't need 8,7,6,5,4,3,2, or even 1 gig!

doughman90 :
Freakin Great style man, bringing back the floppy disk.  Used to play winter games 88' on what was it a 5 in floppy also the original test drive, and some others.  Then to the great improvement of the 3.5 in with twice the memory, though they were no longer "floppy" they kept the name.  Kings Quest V, test drive III, and a few others b4 the transition to a world without floppy disks.  But I still don't get it cuz I could and do put all these games"not necessarily only the ones I've mentioned" on 1 flash drive to play wherever I want.

I don't see why it matters if your 1 gig flash drive has 99% free space...why is that a problem? there's always smaller ones like 128 Kb
its cool idea with the floppy drive set up you have but not really any use other then retro style and added risk of data loss to make your day more eventful and yes I remember we had the 5 in floppy and 3.5 in ones and frankly I thought they sucked and I thought that CDs sucked too..

I have some floppy disks right next to me, actually. Except they can only hold 512 Kb. So they must be of the very very old variety.

So you ordered something that makes it so you can convert from floppy disk to USB?

I do not own my first computer, but I remember it. It was actually 3 computers ago. I never had to use a floppy disc for my first computer. All my games were on CDs. I remember the early school computers that required floppy discs. I remember playing Gizmos and Gadgets via floppy discs.
