Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the fishing game was glitchin. Every time I try to catch one it bites and then instantly goes away. But then I saw a screen shot of someone with the fisherman's hat and I can't even see his hat on my game. I was just wondering if someone could help me figure this out? Cause I love the fishing game. Its the whole reason I started playing this game on here. Also. Even though I started a new game it says that I already played a song to the scarecrow even though I haven't. So now I have no way of summoning boonaru or pierre or whatever.

Ah, yes, you're right. I believe that the fishing here is glitching; I've had the same problem. If you want to fish, I suggest you try the master quest; there, fishing works fine for me there.

As for the hat, that's like an Easter egg hidden in the game; all you have to do is throw the line at the fisherman, and if you do it right you can snatch his hat off; obviously, you have to do it as adult link, since he's not wearing his hat in young link's time. So go on with the game until you become adult link, and when you have access to the fishing area he should be wearing his hat.
If you manage to get his hat, there are a few things you could do:
You could be mean and cast it into the lake, or be nice and give it back. There might be more options, but I'm not too sure.

And as for the scarecrow song, you can just go up to the scarecrow as young link and play another tune in front of it to change it. The tune can be whatever you want to your liking, but remember it, because Pierre can be quite useful in places, and the tune you play will be the song to summon Pierre.

shenron013 : I just noticed this & I thought I would add my tip. I played the regular OoT with the "glitched" fishing but I managed to get both the Heart Piece(as a child) & the Gold Scale(as an adult). The only way I could do it, though, was to stand on the log in the middle of the pond & catch the closest(which is also the biggest) fish by almost completely reeling the line in. Once it bit, I only had to pull on the line once & I got it. If you aren't playing MQ, you could try this.

Nice job finding a way to get them! I tried doing that too myself a few times, but I can't seem to get it. Maybe it's because I'm not that great at this. xD Oh well, the game's still completable without the fishing segment.

Also, if you've found the sinker lure, does that work here? Or does the same "glitch" happen as well? I never really tried in this version since fishing is "glitched" for me.

Thrycia : I'm not sure about the sinking lure. I've never actually used it before. I think it's only available as an adult but I heard there was a way to get it as a child but the catch would be considered illegal so I'm not sure if you'd get the prize.

Ah, yes. I think you get the lure as an adult;  I know it's hidden somewhere in the pond where you go fishing, I'm not sure where. If you find it, you can talk to the fisherman, and he'll allow you to use the rod (but still considered illegal). I'm not sure if you'll get the prize if you use the sinker lure, but the best fish you caught will still appear in the tank (but this time with the note that it was caught illegally.)

It also makes for catching the Hylian eel much easier, and that's the main reason I use the sinker lure: just to catch the Hylian eel. (Just because I can! xD)

I usually go for the eel after I get the main prizes anyways, so when I usually play getting the prize is not an issue for me.

Surgiac : Hey there, i there anyway to fix that glitch, beacause i cant catch any fish which means, i cant go to jabu-jabu and bring him a fish, i've tried to buy one but they cost about 200 rupees, any hint plz?

   You don't need the fishing gear to catch a fish for Jabu-Jabu.  All you need is an empty bottle, which you have when you give the message to the Zora king.  Go down onto the water level of the Zora Domain and near the waterfall, where the water is shallow, you'll find a pool of fish.  Set the bottle on a "C" key (number pad arrows for most) and then use that button to catch the fish in a bottle.  Or if you're cheap, go to the Zora store and buy a fish in a bag.  Catching them in the bottle is EASY!
   Then, go stand in front of Jabu-Jabu, and use the same "C" button to release the fish in front of Jabu-Jabu.  He opens his mouth for you every time after that.
