Elara : Yeah, the area around the mine were used in the early 90's welsh coal industry boom, and over years the old mines got flooded with sediment and rainwater.
All that the miners really did was tap into one of the older mines and it flooded the tunnel they were in.

then youve also got natural gas explosions, ventilation break downs leading to suffocation, the risk of breathing in coal which can destroy your lungs, and the traditional mine collapses.its a far from safe job, hence why many companies opt for open top mining instead now.
