legacyme3 :  Well, to be honest.  It's not Nintendo's fault.  It's the people that work for Nintendo.  They are starting to suck and giving out bad taste.  They make pathetic games like Barbie, arcade games, and a bunch of family games.  It's the same thing.  I do not know why they would not make something new.  That is why they are making Wii U to give it another shot of no remakes and no bad games.  If you seen the games, they are different.  They are making a game called New Super Mario Bros. Mii...WTF!? Who would buy a same game only you can use the Mii.  That is crap.  The others like Ninja Gaiden, Super Smash Brothers, Assassin's Creed, and many more are different games that are going to be on the Wii.  Yes, there was rumor about Assassin's Creed on the Wii lol. You will never know what Nintendo has up their sleeves.

I have no doubt it will be much better than the Wii though.

The issue is if it will be PS3 quality. If it isn't close I won't be buying one.

I never buy a system if it's a step back (hence why I never bought a gamecube)

Marcmoney : It's nobodies fault. There are some people that love Barbie, arcade games and family games. That majority of the "gaming market" doesn't play games like CoD or Halo. The Wii appeals to everybody, rather than just that small pack of so called "hard-core" gamers.

I'll argue the PS3 is actually winning. They may not have the sales, but they easily have the best exclusives, and have stayed true to what their company is. They don't market themselves as a company that will cater to everyone like Nintendo, and fall short (like nintendo)

The 360 would be a close second simply because they stand toe to toe with the PS3 in EVERYTHING but performance and exclusives. (plus you need to pay to use online play)

The Wii is dead last despite being first in sales I feel. I've argued it enough, not moving from where I stand.

legacyme3 : I don't know what you're smoking, but I want some . Sails are EVERYTHING. What company in their right mind would look at their business plan, then look at that of their opponents, and say, you know, we may have almost double the sales, but that company looks cooler. We should follow their plan instead. It would make no sense. And honestly, I think 360 has better exclusives than PS3(gears and halo). The one thing I will give PS3 though...they have the best spokesperson in the world....also LittleBigPlanet is amazing. XD.

As for sales being everything, I disagree. While they keep a company afloat, sales don't make a game good. I'm a gamer, I care about games. The business men care about sales. I do not care about sales.

It helps if they make a game that's GOOD and are able to sell it.

To me, it looks like Nintendo is selling cow droppings and making a fortune by marketing it as GOLD droppings.

If the business plan you have is making more money than your competitors, than you are going to keep going with that plan. You don't need to be a business major to figure that out. The Wii gets the "family" aspect. Family's all want a Wii because the Wii is family friendly, and has games that everybody can play. They also cornered the exercise market before anybody else did. I know a bunch of people that has bought wii's simply because they were going to play zumba or wii fit. For the most part, Nintendo is the trend setter. They come out with motion censors, then 360 and PS3 try to copy. At least 360 came out with something somewhat knew in the kinect. PS3 just try to copy wii completely. Even they know Nintendo is winning XD.

Sony Move actually handles SO much better than the Wii's awkward attempt at motion control.

It may be the same concept, but they did it a lot better. As for Kinect... eh, I'd rather just go outside and play a sport.

Going back to the sales argument, while they are winning from a COMPANY standpoint, they are losing from a GENERAL standpoint. Their system is inferior to the PS3 and 360, hence why the WiiU is coming out.

While the foray into motion gaming was popular, it was very brief and not worth using an entire system on.

The PS3 was hindered at first, but is clearly the strongest system of the three right now. With the WiiU coming out, it will be closer.

Marcmoney : Exactly. Just because I was disappointed in the Wii, doesn't mean I don't have faith in it to be improved. =| 

Most of these games were announced during E3, and many of them are working titles. Still, it's great to see all of these are coming to the next generation Nintendo console.

legacyme3 : I've heard so many people say the exact opposite of what you are saying though, and that the PS3 motion control is horrible. Also, I don't have an hd tv. That means a Wii that streams in 480p looks teh same to me as a PS3 or 360 that streams hd, because I don't have HD. So graphics don't affect me, just like they don't affect a large portion of the market. With any business, you form to your market, and right now their market is family gaming with some nostalgia games thrown in their from Nintendo past. They aren't going to move away with that with their sales as high as they are. They are the only gaming company that actually makes money when somebody buys a Wii. Sony and Microsoft actually lose money on their consoles, then earn it  back through games sales and licensing. Nintendo has the market figured out, and that's why they are, and Charlie Sheen would say, WINNING!

Let's look at the Mets and Dodgers in the MLB.

Both teams have high high payrolls, and despite bankruptcy in one case, and the sale (and inquiries into the Bernie Madoff incident) are actually pretty well off. The teams bring in a crowd night in and night out.

Now let's look at a team like the Tampa Bay Rays.

They don't have the audience and crowd, but they are winning games and are a top contender year in and year out.

Nintendo = Mets
Sony = Rays

They are firm comparisons based on what you are talking about. You cannot argue that Nintendo is winning when it is clear they are just stuck behind the power 2 of Sony and Microsoft.

(I loved Nintendo as a company, and I hate Microsoft with a passion. When I say Microsoft is beating Nintendo, it's because Microsoft is beating Nintendo)

Okay wait a minute.  I can name some good things that Wii has over XBOX 360 and PS3.  First, Wii has free Internet, the others cost money.  Second, Wii has multiple genres, others are basically action, violence, and adventure.  I can name more but that is the most common ones that are important.  Have you ever seen a 360 game or a PS3 game that has to do with girlie things in it like Barbie or Strawberry Short Cake?  Probably not and if there was, I would be surprised.  The Wii has most genres like family, action, adventure, strategy, memory, horror, etc.  People say that 360 and PS3 are better because of the awesome violent kick butt games like Halo, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, etc.  They think that the Wii are for wimps because they have stupid games.  Well the Wii does not just have wimpy games, they have your all time favorites in the past like Mario, Link, DK, etc.  I would not fuss about who is better because no one is better than anyone.  The Wii U will be a big competition for 360 and PS3 and it may not, but who cares, people are crazy about it from these games they are being announced and can't wait to try them out.  I am tired of hearing the fight over Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii.  It is driving me crazy.  You should be thankful to see a better quality of the Wii because this can be big and you won't know it.

Wii owns over 2/5ths of the market. PS3 owns only 1/5th. I'm sorry that they don't make the type of games that you like, but obviously there are more people out there that are not like you that play the games the wii has. You can't compare them to baseball teams because those are two different types of businesses. But if you really want to look at it, I bet you the owner of the Tampa Bay owner would trade those wins in a heart beat if it somehow would make him more money. He would probably trade places with the Mets owner if he had the chance. It's all about making money, and that is why Nintendo is winning with the Wii.

Sony's PSN service is free minus normal internet costs. The Wii also has the same internet fees. XBL is the only paid online.

For one, I don't see this as a selling point... I'd rather not play a barbie game thanks... And the PS3 has multiple genres as well. Just no stereotypical girly games.

Wrong. I like the PS3 because of exclusives like Uncharted, Heavy Rain, and Disgaea. None of those are "violent, kick butt games". I hate shooters as much as the next guy generally, but Uncharted is the one shooter which is fun to play (third person too)

I do not like mario games. Aside from Mario sports and Mario Party, the last mario game I liked was Super Mario Bros. Link is something I do without, because like Mario, it has become really stale. I do not like DK games. Sorry.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the old Nintendo games. That's why I got an N64, and why I play the NES on this site from time to time. I ENJOY the OLD Nintendo games.

The new ones aren't fun for me though. It has nothing to do with age, taste, or anything else actually.

The fact of the matter is they just aren't as good as the older games. I still play Super Mario Bros. I play Legend of Zelda. I even play Donkey Kong Country from time to time. Those games are much much better than Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (I admit, I like this one), and Donkey Kong Country returns.

legacyme3 :   I know, but you can't hate on Twilight Princess.  That game is a complete different story in the Zelda series.  Super Mario Galaxy, its fun, but when I found out that Super Mario Galaxy 2 came out, I thought that it was just crap because it is like playing the same game except Yoshi is in it.  I don't care about that.  I hated that title...Super Mario Galaxy 2.  There was no Super Mario Sunshine 2 or Super Mario 64 2.  If they changed the title and the complete difference from Super Mario Galaxy (like Super Mario Time), then I would play it.  Donkey Kong Country Returns is a good game, but the title is stupid.  The game play is so much fun, probably not better than the ones on the SNES, but you know what I mean.  Games that have a 2 or more after it is just completely stupid, except for Mario Party and Dynasty Warriors.

Not always true. A lot of great "2+" games are really good.

Saint's Row 2, Uncharted 2, GTA IV, the list goes on.

The issue is that some games ARE the same game. Galaxy and Galaxy 2 were the same game basically. So is DK Country and DK Country returns.

The issue is all the Wii games are starting to melt together. There aren't great new games in the key franchises.

legacyme3 : Nintendo is focused more on a younger age group. If you really want to look at it in a way that sales doesn't matter, then I would say that BOTH Sony and Nintendo are winning, and for that matter 360. None of them are really doing bad. Nintendo and Sony are just focused on two different age groups, and they are both doing well in those age groups.
