Greetings,

For all of you who have ever played middle school/early high school ( I guess) level 'jazz' music, have you ever played a song titled Cruise Control? I was just wondering if anyone had or would be able to give me the composer. I played as the lead trumpet back in 8th grade jazz band and it was an awesome song. I can't remember the composer though and just looking up "Cruise Control" sheet music on google doesn't accomplish much. I think I found something on sheetmusicplus, but there's no pic/preview. Maybe if i never get the composer then one day i'll have money of my own to waste and just order that score.

I never really played Jazz in school, but I got a minor interest in Jazz...

The only name I can think of is Lennie Niehaus, but as song titles can blend a fair bit, especially in this genre, I don't know if it is what you're looking for. It's worth looking into Neihaus though, and I will send more names if that isn't the right composer.

Redrunelord : Thanks a lot! According to a couple videos on youtube I do believe that's the guy I'm looking for. Unfortunately except for this video, I can't find any evidence online that Lennie composed this piece! So still no sheet music.

If your teacher taught you this song from a book, it is likely either a teaching element that was transcribed later, or a compilation of jazz notation. I tried looking for jazz sheet music and it is very difficult without pirating it. Yeah a lot of Jazz tends to be rather elusive in part because jazz is almost always taught by ear and without sheet music.

Never heard it and I am pretty big into Jazz. I think that it must be pretty good though. I have yet to really hear a bad Jazz song.
