Laptop question

 
3 years from now when this computer is old, should I just upgrade memory for 20$ instead of replacing it?
I love my brand new laptop, it's fast, fun, and there's no errors on it at all. I was wondering, if three or four years from now when it gets older, should I just buy more memory and upgrade it? I am really clingy with electronics (I can't let go of my Dreamcast, nor can I trash my gamecube, they're too fun, and I still have my old desktop in my closet). I figured instead of getting rid of this laptop in 3 years and buying another for over 1,000$, should I just buy those memory upgrades and RAM upgrades when it starts to chug a little?

If you take good enough care of your laptop, should last atleast 5 years with no real problems. I've had my laptop almost 4 years now, I've upgraded the RAM once but it's still pretty good to todays standards, though I bought top of the line back in 2004 when I bought it.

Yeah, mine's good. I occasionally defragment it (not too much) and when I see too many things downloaded I uninstall all of the things I don't need. This thing's fast, even faster than the desktop I got when it was brand new.

Upgrades, in my eyes, are those things you buy to make your computer cool until something worth forking out 2-3 K for comes out... for example my Laptop.... i didnt upgrade or replace it for 4-5 years.... but when i did it was one BIG jump...

Laptops im not sure about, but PC's you can sell your parts for ATLEAST half of what the next model parts are (providing its not a rediculus upgrade you want to get), so you get all your new parts halfprice . Only have to make one upgrade a month (if that) and you'll stick with a fairly decent pc.

Take the computers from the 60's, for instance, they were as big as rooms, sometimes as big as houses and they were slow as crap and the data on them things took forever to transfer.
