So when you say those would increase returning traffic, I assume that means that this new feature that you will be revealing in a couple days should increase NEW traffic then?

rcarter2 : Yeah the new feature would increase New Traffic since it'd be greatly increasing search engine ranking which means it'll drive in more traffic.

That's good. I personally probably would never have found this site had I not been searching so hard for good SNES emulators so I wouldn't have to download from snesorama. But even then, it took me a couple hours of searching to come across this. 

rcarter2 : I'm surprised, most people are able to find this site within the first page of google.  Now if you used yahoo than I understand because my ranking on yahoo isn't that great.  Most of the good search terms that I target for this site I come up on the first page, sometimes within the top 3 results, like 'play snes online' for example, I'm the 2nd result on google.

That is the thing. I wasn't aware there were sites that you could play online instead of downloading ROMs. I just didn't like snesorama because I had to download 2 other programs apart from the zsnes emulator to make them playable, which was taxing. I was searching things like downloading ROMs or downloading emulators. If I had known sites like this existed, it would have been a shorter search. But I wasn't aware of the loopholes.

I'm super excited. In the 13 and a half months I've been here, there have been no major changes other than a few different chatrooms. With an quick increase of new users, we might be able to get to 500K posts faster than we think.

tj4bigred : Really?  There's actually been a ton of updates, lots of pages recreated and restructured and the RGR has received a ton of new stuff.  Now if you mean major as in a feature as big as the RGR or the RTR, than yeah there hasn't been a feature THAT big in a while but this new feature will be as big.

Ok, now I can't wait. I was under the assumption before that it was going to be something a little more than an update, but now it's beginning to sound even better.

Hopefully it's done soon, but there's no rush, I'd rather see a good finished product, like the one I know you are working on, rather than an unfinished hurried mess.

If it is going to be something as big as the RGR or RTR, I am thinking that David is holding information about this from everyone, including people like geeogree --unless he is playing a charade with us. After all, the fewer people that know what the surprise is, the more of a surprise it will be when it is revealed. Regardless of that, I am not feeling impatient due to college.

That's kind of what I was getting at. When I got here, the RGR and RTR were already pretty big, and the major updates since have mostly been reconstruction or building on these features.

But this sounds different. A NEW feature. Something that will revolutionize Vizzed. I'm really excited.

legacyme3 : In the eyes of the people who enjoy the RGR, it might not be as big as the RGR but to me it's as big because it'll help me expand the site and increase the traffic flow and target an even bigger audience.

tj4bigred : The unfortunate thing is, most users don't realize how much time goes into this site and they quickly forget all the updates and features I add to the site but once you start using another forum, that's when you start to realize what you've taken for granted.

I know how hard you work on the site, David, and appreciate it. And considering how long this forum has been pending, I can tell it's been a long work in progress and I can't wait to see it. I also understand that, like you said, not many people appreciate the RGR or RTR for what it's worth. The amazing thing is, and you should be very proud of this, that a lot of members like me and many others would rather be part of this great community you have than play some of the video games they grew up with. Now, I don't want to sound like the board and RGR can't live together in harmony, but the fact that the forum drew me away from playing Pokemon Ruby is a feat within itself.

The way that this discussion has gone, it seems that this is separate from any feature already on this site. I'm also skeptical as to whether this is the battle arena, but that could come back to kick me. Argh... I'm so confused... Any chance staff members could get a sneak peek?

Everyone else: I will reveal tomorrow what it is.  When it does release, it wont be finished though, it'll be in a beta stage since it'll lack some features.
