I've used all of them, my first time beating the game I actually used a Meganium, which was really helpful. I guess I really like grass types, but I don't like getting repetitive when it comes to Pokemon, I try to use new Pokemon each run (except for starters since there's only 3 per gen).

Totodile. Mainly because I heard my other friends were picking Cyndaquil simply for its evolutions looking cool. I wanted to choose the polar opposite of they picked, and that happened to be Totodile. Plus, it's my second favorite starter ever next to Squirtle.

Well I had gold first and I played with Chikorita, but that game kind of died. So, when I got Crystal, I chose Totodile, and decided that yes, I really liked Totodile. For SoulSilver I kind of cheated through trading and picked all of the starters. But I think my favourite is still Totodile.

Gold- I picked Totodile
Silver- I picked Cyndaquil
crystal- I think I picked cyndaquil. I'm not really sure.

Heartgold- haven't played it =P but if I did I would pick chikorita

My choice would be Cyndaquil because Cyndaquil is the only starter who is super effective against gym leaders. Cyndaquil's fire type attacks are super effective against Bugsy, Jasmine and Pryce. Totodile and Chikorita are not super effective against any of the gyms however, teaching Totodile and its evolutions Blizzard can be very useful against Clair the Dragon Gym leader. I'm sure that Chikorita and Totodile can learn other TM moves to help them defeat the other leaders but Cyndaquil for me is the way to go.

However I stopped playing when they decided not to put any of the main Pokémon games on the 3DS. What the heck is Nintendo thinking the DS doesn't even have good working online, because you need WEP when everybody and their mother uses WPA.

I always go with Cyndaquil or totodile, I always thought they where the power houses of the 2nd generation starters. I thought chikorita was weak and sort of useless even in its final evolution. Magneiums only real use would to be to set up a dual screen then take it out of battle, While Feraligator and Typhlosion could be used as physical and special sweepers.

Totodile, of-course. He was always so uppity in the actual Anime, which made him pretty awesome, in itself. Plus, he does evolve into an aligatormon, which I'm pretty sure has a powerful attack stat; not that I knew that back then. But I'm not entirely sure, back in the day of no wifi battles, and only having short distance cable battles, we couldn't care less about the perfect stats for a Pokémon, at-least, most of the people I knew didn't care. As-long a we had the actual Pokémon we wanted, it was all good!

I cause Totodile the most because wean I played Hg I got a shiny Totodile
at first I thought it was a normal Pokémon then I check  its stats and I saw the star I was :O this is awesome but I did cause call and I think totodile is the best these a lot of fire and rock Pokémon so it makes it the best
