Yeah I'm pretty good at detecting peoples emotion but if I can't help them with it then theres nothing I can do really. If their feeling sad and i ask if they want to talk about it and they say no you pretty much have to grind your way through conversations so they don't feel left out or get even more sad, hate it when that happens.

I think everyone is born with the ability to sense the emotions around them. Obviously the more time you spend with people, the more in tune you are with how your close friends are feeling.

I think I can usually tell if my friends and family are happy/sad/scared/anxious.

Kind of, it's hard to say, detecting what others are feeling is a little vague, usually depends on the feeling. It's easy to detect the negative ones for me, it's actually pretty helpful, I can also tell when people are lying. The thing is that I understand desires, I can control mine and know how people try to hide them.

Empathy comes in flashes for me; personally... I think it is based on how long the emotion has existed within the person or animal and how strong it is. Same with the thoughts; sometimes, I'll sense what a person is thinking but only if it is really strong or foremost within their mind. The former works over the Net; the latter only works in person.

If the person talks about a general subject then yes as they are not trying to hide their feelings using deception and people tend to be less guarded when they aren't talking about themselves.

Strangely enough, I'm very good with determining how others feel.  I guess it's a part of understanding my students.  I have to be able to read their emotions because most of them are too insecure to speak up with they are frustrated or upset.

The reason I say this is strange is that I am no GOOD at comforting people.  If my husband is depressed or someone is stressed about something, I have absolutely no idea what to say to make them feel better.  Then I just end up feeling like a jerk because it probably seems like I don't care.

It all depends on how close I am to the person. If it's someone I just met or barely know, then I can't tell what they're feeling. But if I know them well enough or am really close with them then I usually can tell when something is bothering them or if they have something on their mind.

not really, I have a bit of a hard time judging, because most people put up the facade during the day its hard to know if they really are the way they act or if they are depressed.  Some people are just obvious and others are like a rubik's cube

I'd say I'm pretty good at it, because I'm able to see how people are feeling they are quickly drawn to me to tell me how their life is and what not, it's made me think that maybe Psychology may be a good option that i should look into. With girls it's much easier to tell their mood, as with a guy it's more difficult unless raised with many sisters or around many girls or just more in touch with a softer side.

I dunno, I rarely talk to people so I guess it kind of makes sense. A lot of people can type differently depending on how they feel. Whether they put less grammar in their mistakes, or make a lot more typos, they will type either faster or slower as well. Perhaps simply the things they type will change as well. I can only really do it well if I know the person themselves quite well however. I usually am actually quite right within a slim margin of error.

  I'd say so. If my best friend or anyone that I'm friends with is upset I can sense it and I will be sad with them. Ex: My best friend had his girlfriend break up with him and he came to school crying and I was sad all day for him.
