John, you wouldn't know how the mind of a suicidal person works because you have never BEEN suicidal. You don't know what it's like, so shut the f*** up about it. Gain some knowledge before you judge others' behaviors. Do yourself a favor: learn to spell, then take a psychology class, and pay ATTENTION to that class.

Actually, John isn't completely wrong. I was kind of upset that this discussion got into such a heated battle over religion, even though I knew it would. Yes, I believe that if you commit suicide you'll go to hell but I usually don't bring religion into arguments such as this. It is true that depression is often a chemical imbalance, which is why there is medicine for it. But just because you are clinically depressed doesn't mean you'll be suicidal. If you are suicidal then you need help and it's that simple believe it or not. Help is in different forms and a lot of people are just too lazy or stupid, yes stupid, to seek it out. I say stupid because in a life and death situation, it's stupid not to do anything to solve the problem. Suicide is murder and murder is wrong. Nothing justifies murder just as nothing justifies Suicide. If you feel like commiting suicide then do something else. I was very depressed during freshman year of highschool and I did something about it, something big. I heard from another person that was suicidal that she would cut herself because it gave her a kind of high like smoking or something. And while cutting may seem bad and surely is a sign of being suicidal, at least the person is doing something to try and prevent it. While I may sound pessimistic about the whole topic I do feel some sympathy for those who think about it alot. I don't think they should and I don't think I could forgive someone close to me for doing it but I understand that a person like that has a lot of problems they can't handle on their own. I just wish that when they realize this they would go about solving it a different way...

I didn't suggest thats the way they 'should be handled' i just told you what is accutally happening if the suicidalist acctually thought about what they were doing.

And you're just being absolutely ignorant in thinking anyone who kills themselves or has thought about it deserves it.

Because that's simply not the case. And if someone does feel the need that suicide is the ONLY answer to the problems in their life, they should be seeing a doctor.. at the very least.

John, I did read the thread, and the topic is about suicide and your opinion of it, not arguing back and forth about the Bible and whether or not it is a sin. Can we have ONE dicussion in this forum that doesn't bring that damn book into it? I've gotten so sick of religious debates in the past month from this board alone that I'm ready to puke.

It does have to do with chemical imbalences in the brain a bit, not always, but sometimes. Othertimes it's just feeling so overwhelmed by an event that happened, like the lose of a loved one or something.

I used to cut, but when I was a cutter I did not see myself as suicidal. It was a way to numb the emotional pain. Perhaps it prevented me from trying to kill myself, I do not know.

I think I know what you mean when you mentioned how John suggested things should be handled. But what I was saying is that there is some truth behind the one sided arguement he imposed. There usually is some truth behind such one sided statements. So as I first said, John is completely wrong. I do agree with you though that chemical imbalances play an important role in suicide. It is also true that it is often a side-affect of stress. Both can be handled in ways to prevent suicide, but everyone is different and as a result, the method to deal with a persons problem is different for most people.

There's a huge difference IMHO in clynically depressed suicidal people who need serious help.

And the run of the mill emo kid who cuts for attention.

This is true, and as I said...each can be handled in such a way to prevent suicide. The method depends on the person though.

Okay my thoughts on suicide, if people kept on telling others "Oh I want to kill myself," but never do, are just plain attention whores. They don't really want to kill themselves they just want attention.
I don't take suicide seriously, I'm sorry I just don't, and I don't believe the bible about going to hell if you kill yourself.
Some people kill themselves for several reasons one main reason is

. They think in there mind that everyone around them would be happier (this is one but here are others)

. They can be mental and feel the urge to kill people, and they don't want to feel like that and they know for a fact they won't get help and they will end up in some loony hospital and they don't want to suffer like that so they kill themselves.

. There really sick and there dying anyway, they kill themselves.

. So Sad and depressed, can't eat, can't move, feel hated, ashamed, alone like no one cares.

. Then there is some twisted people out there, who have a sick fetish, some might think its romantic and no one can harm them but themselves no one can take there life not even God so in there mind killing themselves is a beautiful thing.

Yeah some people should deal with it just like everyone else, but some people are so arrogant and they can't think on how that person feels instead they think how they were raised and how people should be, the world is tough out there and there should be more open minded people.
