For the summer, Me and my family went to Asheville.   We stayed in a cruddy hotel named Rodeway inn .   I'm talking about the smell of lime cleaner and no elevator, at least there was a cool flat screen TV mounted on the wall.   From the outside, I could tell that hotel wouldn't be so good.   I do wonder if you ever stayed in a low-quality hotel.

When I was somewhere in Illinois we checked into a really crappy Days Inn, The outdoor pool was full of sewage (it was too cold and wet to swim though) the plaster was chipping in our room, the mirror fell off the wall, the place smelled like cigarettes, some kid took all the doughnuts for the breakfast , and the outlet for the toaster was hanging out of the wall with the leads exposed and cloth covered wire. We saw and AmericInn across the street and found the higher end rooms we cheaper than what we were staying at!

Flat screen TV'S are the poo.

Thankfully, all hotels in New York City are clean and upscale so I've never experienced a problem with a dirty or smelly or unsanitary hotel/inn. Not that I visit them frequently or anything.

Even traveling outside of NYC, I've never encountered a filthy hotel/inn. PHEW.

So the answer to your question is NO.

Actually, no. I haven't stayed in many hotels in my time, but the ones I HAVE been in, have been pretty nice. The one I stayed in when I was down in Los Angeles a few years back could've been a little nicer, but it wasn't so bad.

Me and my friends stayed in a terrible one in paris.
The lobby smeled of sewage, the guy behind the desk was asleep, the room had 1 spare socket(in the bathroom)the toilet water was weird and the sink water fairely bad too.there was 1 wooden seat that would have broke had i sat on it.
There was dust everywhere, and everynight at 10.30 when i opened the curtains there was a guy peeing on our wall.
The room was so small i rolled over and ended up in my friends bed, which was equaly uncomfortable.and one unlucky guy got the pull down bed,it was in a unit on the wall.everytime he moved the tv swayed above his head,we were joking he'd be killed.
So yeh, lousy. There was a crepe stand outside though, that obviously makes it worth while.

The worst hotel I have stayed in was at a camp near Ft. McMurrey , Alberta. Camp rooms are very different from the standard hotel you are probably accustomed to staying at, but they are still classified as a hotel. I know this because I stayed at one that held over 9000 people (literally) and it holds the world record or north american record for the largest hotel.

The reasons why it was so terrible is that it feels like you are staying in a prison rather than a hotel. First of all you are usually isolated in a camp, most of them are hours away from any other sort of civilization. The rooms are extremely tiny, usually around 4-5 feet wide with a tiny bed. You are lucky if you get a small TV in the room or else you are required to bring your own. Usually there are communial bathrooms but occasionally you only have to share a toilet and shower with the stranger in the room next to you. The food is set up like a prison cafeteria, they cook what they want and you have a limited selection to chose what you want to eat every night.

This particular camp was horrible because part of it had been shut down because of bed bugs. It was also a literal 1 mile walk from the cafeteria to my room. Here is a picture to give you an idea of how the rooms look.

I've never stayed in a dirty hotel, but I once stayed in one where there was no bin, the window was broke and wouldn't shut (and it was a freezing night), the mattress was rock hard and there was a stained used towel and there's meant to be a 24/7 reception service and I had to check out of the hotel at 4 am to get to the airport on time and there was no one there :@

Well, yes, in fact. It was out abroad a few years ago and my family had not made any reservations for the night, so we had to go with the best available. It was most unpleasant, but about every other time that I have actually been in a hotel, it has been really nice. On the whole, I hold hotels in a positive perspective.

I remember a pretty nasty hotel I stayed at in Gatlinburg, TN on a speech and debate trip.

This place had everything. Cracked walls, broken beds, and i swear there
were some unusual noises coming from the next room over....

I've been in a few cruddy motel 6's and best westerns in smaller towns when I was a kid on road trips with family. Thankfully I haven't had to stay in any bad ones in a long long time. Especially with bed bugs becoming more of a factor than they were when I was a kid, I avoid them at all costs.

Yeah, on my first trip to Savannah. The hotel was dingy, unsanitized, and it had a terrible smell to it. I think we moved out of there or something because that place was terrible. The T.V. only had like 3 channels.

Last month. This was the worst hotel I've ever been to. Lights were barely working, phone kept clicking off, no good channels were on their TV, other people had those same problems with their rooms too. Worst part is that the mini fridge had roaches in it. No lie. Half were moving, other half were dead. That was the worst hotel I've ever been to.

I didn't go into a bad hotel but weird things kept happening. First one person puked on the 2nd floor, then there was a blackout, and then someone's computer exploded.

I went to a hotel in Austin Texas and it was nasty and dirty. I am pretty sure It got closed down for health and safety reasons. My cheap dad didn't wanna spend an extra 20 bucks a night for a clean bed.

Yep.  I stayed in a less than low quality hotel called Econo Lodge.  I've heard that most of them are good, but this one had mold growing on half the roof, and down the walls as well.  Not fun, we canceled our stay after the first night!
