Thevlad: About the time machine idea -- what does he do while he's trapped 600 years in the past? If he's just trying to find the time machine so he could return home that wouldn't be very interesting. Maybe he could have some side quests to complete while he's searching for the time machine to return home. Just a thought.

Maybe he went back in time, and crash landed in say, a forest, but he wakes up in a jail and escapes from there. The game is all about him finding his time machine and/or finding bits to fix it. Could have a full.. ahh.. say.. blacksmith level system, so you have to learn to be a blacksmith, or a chemist, or other abilitys (which each have there own levels). And some bits for your time machine you have to manafacture them yourself.

Well if you want sometime easy and quick, I'd go with RPG Maker 95. Don't even need to learn a language and you can create a pretty decent game pretty quickly. It's my RPG Maker of choice.
