I have a question for everyone and I want everyone to tell me what they would do.....

What would you do if someone you knew went missing. Do you think there are some new ways that may make it easier for the authorities or the family of such missing loved ones find them? I just wanted to know what you all would do or suggest.

One of the biggest things that can help find a missing person is honesty. People hide things, keep secrets for their friends and think that the friend will be mad if they come back and find out you told... but if you have even the slightest suspicion that such a thing might help find the missing person then you need to talk. Your friend will doubtlessly be too glad to be alive and safe at home to care that you spilled a secret, especially if it saved their life.

Otherwise, it is really hard to be on the sidelines when a friend or family member vanishes. You can volunteer to help when you can, but for the most part all you can really do is share everything you can with the police and hope that they come home safe and sound.

Elara : Oh yeah, maybe not every case, but a lot of them end up being runaways and run into trouble later on. And more than likely their friends do know of their plans to run away.

Exactly. Or in the case of kidnappings, they know if the missing person "met someone online" or whatever... friends talk, if there is something there then chances are the friends will know about it.

Elara : Yeah, I agree. Especially with the resources kids have to contact each other nowadays. I know when I was a kid, we only used the landline telephone, and the internet was just becoming known. And whenever I was on the internet, my Mom was sitting right there with me. But it seems now kids can just sit on their own computers and do whatever they want. And sometimes the parents don't monitor who they're children are talking to.
