By and large it is considered a blues ballad, so I'd have to say blues. Motown was a later genre named after the record label that spawned it, and is more along the lines of The Supremes or Stevie Wonder. Wiki says it's a blues/r&b/gospel fusion.

I would classify it as either blues or Soul. Though it has some elements of early rock in it. I would say that it is blues though.
